“A room with a view of Pierrefonds Castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2012

Being HUGE Merlin fans.. we wanted to come to see the castle. But had a bonus with the town.We walked around and visited some of the little shops.. AMAZING BAKERY and chocolate shop... And.. they were filming while we were in town. I believe Angel was staying at the hotel as I saw her leave one morning. It was an awesome bonus.. the room was good sized.. the staff were just great, the bed had a memory foam pad which was marvelous! there was also WIFI in the lobby. The breakfast was very good and the dinners were great!! We got here one day early, but they made room for us and the next day switched us to a nice room. We did not have any surprises on our bill. We WILL go back and we WILL refer to others.. Hated to leave..

Room Tip: ask for street side. Not sure if they have any in the back... but there are amazing views of the sun...

A very pleasant reasonably priced hotel. Nicely decorated, comfortable bed, with good en suite. Our room had stunning views of the lake & the château which, like something from a fairytail dominates this pretty place. Our only criticism was the breakfast, which wasn't good value for money. The hotel had no private parking, however, this was not a problem as there were some spaces outside the hotel & a car park nearby. Despite their website saying "hotel & restaurant" there was no option to dine in whilst we were there. We stayed mid week & found the whole place unspoilt & relaxing, but the very helpful reception staff, say the town can be crowded at weekends.

Room Tip: ask for a room with views of the château

My friend made reservations trough Bookings.com in this hotel and made the mistake to reserve only twin rooms, we were only men.
The night staff tryed to accommodate us and found some rooms with 2 beds...was nice because the mistake was from us.
This man was very nice and helpfull.
Unfortunatly, when we made the check-out, we had the big surprise to pay some supplement....we have been upgraded to get twin rooms but without knowing that there was some extra to pay.
It was not the problem to pay, just the the lake of information about this fact. It is always more fair to know before than after...the girl at reception was not friendly and was sure to be in the right way....no comment about this shame !
Just, she said that the next time it should be more convenient to reserve directly and not trough Bookings.com. Of course, no commission to pay if you book directly.

That's a pity, because this hotel was not so bad...just sometimes, staff have to learn how to work, and can finally caused more damages than to earn few euros...

We stayed at this hotel as we wanted to viisit the castle and then be a reasonable driving distance to Frankfurt. The town is small but cute. The castle is great to visit. There is a few places to eat and little shops to buy food and drink. Room was simple. Bathroom was seperate but joined to the room. We were in the room just above the entrance which made it a little noisy at night, but on the whole it was good. Breakfast was very basic and insuficient and the woman looking after the dining area was not interested.

The room itself was perfectly adequate and free wi-fi access worked great.
However, when we went to check out they tried to charge us for two separate rooms. We explained there must be an error as we had stayed in only one room with one double bed. They retorted that when we checked in at 11pm the night before they gave us two keys and we should have noticed that the room numbers were not the same on each key, despite the fact that one of them was so faded it was hardly legible. They refused to believe they could have mistakenly noted down "2 doubles" as opposed to "1 double for 2 people." Even when I finally showed them a copy of the reservation confirmation that said "One double room" there was no appology which I find is typical for France. They made us feel they were doing us a great favor by not making us pay for their own error. When in doubt, accuse the customer and then search for the facts and blame the customer anyway.

The Beaudon has a great position, overlooking the lake and unspoiled French village and its enormous castle of Pierrefonds. A short drive from Compiegne (the nearest big town and railway station, an hour north of Paris), but best reached by hire car (as a taxi from Compiegne will set you back >€25, and only about 3 busses to the town run per day !). My second stay, first review; ownership had changed since I last stayed and the hotel was in its early busy period for the year. The lovely ladies at reception were very helpful and friendly telling me what was still open when I arrived. Front rooms with (unnecessary) soundproof windows overlook the sometimes quiet village, which is a popular resort during the warmer weather and the town's main attraction, Pierrefonds Castle which is simply amazing inside and out (and has doubled as Camelot on the tv for the last 3 seasons of Merlin). The rooms are modern, elegant and comfortable, although reasonably simply furnished (renovated about 2008 I think, hotel dates back to 1830, but doesn't feel old). The additional breakfast was basic, although this maybe a factor of the occupancy level of the hotel. Not to worry, the nearby boulangerie has a magnificent selection to carry you through to lunch. At the time of my stay, the hotel didn't have a restaurant but about 4 are within walking distance. Definitely will return here for my next visit.

Wonderful welcome, relaxed hotel, nice people.
Newly refurbished rooms, very clean with great views of the lake and castle. Room simply furnished with lovely ensuite. Really good night's sleep. WiFi worked perfectly.
Breakfast was OK, but would have benefited from traditional french bread and croissant from the local boulanger !
Would we go back - definitely !!

Pierrefonds really worth spending some time wandering about
