My wife and I stayed for one night as part of our Ruby wedding anniversary - we spent our honeymoon at this hotel all those years ago. It is now much bigger than when we stayed before but we had a very pleasant visit. The staff were top notch, a very comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. While I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in or around St Ives, the hotel looks and does in fact need a real facelift. On arriving at the main entrance, one is faced with long row of commercial wheelie bins!
Subsequent enquiries reveal that the hotel has apparently been sold and is due to close in October 2018, when it will be demolished and replaced with luxury apartments - hence, I guess, the lack of investment and shabby décor. Shame really as those loyal customers of Alfa travel will find it difficult to find another hotel of the same size and as good and welcoming as The Cottage. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay.More
