We have just returned from our second trip of 2018,where I normally give my opinion on the hotel this time it really hard to make a judgement because it's only going to be there until October of this year, so get in quick,we went on the OAP bus run by Alfa tours, and although I have read reviews of this and other hotels in this group which mainly came from people who used their cars , some said that it felt like a old person home and when I sat at our table I suppose they could be correct in some ways, this is my own opinion and my wife and I are nearly a young 70 ,anyway this hotel is situated in a very beautiful area ( Carbis Bay ) near St Ives the food is to Leasuplex s normal high standards we had a beautiful room facing out across sea and on the 3 floor both of us have slight walking problems so the 3 stairs to the corridor to our rooms wasent really a problem but if anyone had a bad disability they could have been in trouble, the hotel has its own swimming pool and with our Mediterranean weather at the moment it was certainly a bouns but to access it one had to walk down a bit of a hillside which might be a problem if you had a walking disability, which sums up the whole area which is certainly for the fit , at the bottom of the driveway/car park there's the access point for the railway which is only £2 return to go into St Ives unbelievable value in this day and age,but back to the hotel as stated the food was fine the rooms and accommodations were clean and although the areas were not top speck there certainly wasent anything to complain over, met a lovely crowed of people there and all of of the staff were very nice and helpful and accommodating,I don't believe in picking out indeviduals normally but there as quite a few who were a credit to this establishment, all in yet another off the to do list but not really sure weather I would return basically because of the hillside location , but if you still have time go for it lovely hotel it's just a shame that as usual money and turn over is being put in front of services to the customer.

I am writing about our first trip to Carbis bay , Cottage Hotel . Having found out that the hotel was closing in October we can understand why we thought it was rather run down in parts i.e. The entertainments room was very dowdy with paper coming of the walls, no complaints about entertainment . We had a top floor room with an outstanding view of the bay , theonly down side being dirty windows covered in seagull droppings . Food varied but soups were excellent according to my husband and desserts were good but mains we think were rather small.

its a long time since we stayed here, due my diagnosed with copd, stives is a fantastic place but the hills are too much for me now,,,,, the cottagehotel has a fantastic view out across carbis bay we had a large sea faced room it was lovely the meals were good and varied and the evening entertainment always went down well in the bar. the only problem we had was the heating in our room, there wasnt any, and the room was cold.

Room tip: a seaview room is a must
