Description: Attention from the first of December until the thirty-first march we will be attending to all our reservations at the hotel Hare boutik since the restaurant is in reconstruction, same chef same hours the same rules but this time with much more style, for the first time with an incredible sunset in the mountains and right next to my new restaurant so please inform yourself about the rules on the web site and make a reservation

We ate here after a long day of hiking and the food was right on point. The food can be described in many ways, but if you like high end Japanese cuisine made by an eclectic Chilean man while listening to 80s French rock music, this place is not to be missed.

Note: best red snapper i have ever had

This was a top rated restaurant in the island and we were not disappointed - very good Japanese food with fresh taste and simplicity. The chef is also a very interesting person - loves what he does and does everything himself - greeting, serving, cooking, cleaning and all the prep. The ambience he created for a warm dining experience from a rather shabby looking shack (also something he built himself) is impressive - I took a picture in the day time the next day just to compare. He only takes reservations and you can see why as he is a one man show! We did have to wait about an hour for our food but he kept our tea pot full so we had good family time while we waited. The food was simple but very tasty - we had fish, shrimp and beef - each had a different sauce with very subtle yet different flavors. The fish was red snapper and also some sashimi which was very good. My daughters don't like sashimi but ate all of it this time -Quite sumptuous meal. In between 3 other guests the chef shared stories as well - eccentric genius chef is the best way to put it !

Whilst on the island went to Kotaro based on what we found on TA. Food, ambiente and chef are simply great. Everything freshly cooked and unique in its taste. Yes, the music is loud, but an important part of this master piece of gastronomy.

After reading the signs outside the restaurant and the rules on his website, we just had to eat here. The owner and the food did not disappoint. The food is truly of the highest quality, and he is truly a mad scientist. If you are turned off by bold flavors and an even more bombastic owner, this is not the place for you, but if you love when people embrace their own genius, you are in for a treat.

Like most islands, Easter Island is extremely expensive, so $20,000 for soup, a small appetizer, and main course was well worth it.

Make sure you get reservations at least the day before through email. He currently has two sittings, 7:30 and 8:30. Also don't order off the menu, just tell him what meat you want, and he will take care of the rest.

Having read the reviews, the restaurant blog and the 'rules', my friend and I weren't sure what to expect from Kotaro, but we knew it would be an experience. It was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service was friendly and attentive, the ambience relaxed, and the food delicious. The owner/chef could not have been more delightful. He explained the menu and recommended the set meal. That night, it came with miso soup, a raw fish starter, rice and our choice of protein. We were both given two options for how our protein could be prepared. I ordered fish with a miso glaze and my friend had curry prawns. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty. It is a little pricey, but I thought it was reasonable when comparing the quality/taste with other options on the Island. Trust the chef's recommendations and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
