Description: Small pretty bistrot type restaurant situated in the old part of Vernet with glorious views out over the valley and mountains and interior seating in an old stable for the colder months or inclement weather. Informal honest food with friendly service. Booking highly recommended as our capacity is extremely limited. Bookings are accepted and welcomed but choice of table is on a first come first served basis.

A very pleasant lunch on the terrace of Le Cortal! Friendly service, beautiful setting. The food is really nice and you get to cook your meat/fish the way you like it on the hot stone... Entertaining and yummy! Prices are really reasonable so indeed a place to recommend! Enjoy the meal and the walk in the small streets around :)

Le Cortal has introduced me to the concept of hot stone cooking and it's amazing! Great meat and you get to cook it to your liking which is not only an interesting experience, but also makes for an amazing meal. I'd go back here anytime!

Highest point in the village with beautiful views, the service and food were excellent, very clean with more than one level,we went there(booked in advance) to celebrate a birthday i had steak on a hot stone, cooked it the way I like it,the others had huge prawns and the food all round was well cooked and presented to perfection, luckily we were staying in the pink house on the market square so it was a downhill walk home ! Try it,you will not be disappointed.

Loved everything about this restaurant.

The setting is stunning, right at the top of the village with beautiful views and a lovely outside terrace (although we were there for dinner in October so didn't try it out) and inside it is warm and cosy and very welcoming.

Dave was a very welcoming host to both his lone English customers (us) and the many French locals also eating there. The menu was just the right length, reassuringly short but still lots of choice.

We had a charcuterie board to share and some garlic potato wrapped prawns for starters, both of which were great, but the real highlight was the steak cooked on the hot stone - absolutely gorgeous! Together with chips and salad it was a really big meal and very good value.

Despite being full we made room for puddings as the menu was so tempting - I had a Cointreau frozen mousse which was heavy on the booze and rather smashing.

We drank a great bottle of local wine (again very well priced) and altogether had a very lovely evening. Highly recommended.
