The food is delicious and the plates are full. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Even if the architecture is kind of old, the rooms are very clean (we can have a room with air conditioner). We send kind regards to the owner!

Although the hotel is old fashioned with old intrastructure it is definitely the best place in Tiszaujvaros. Why?
1) It is clean and tidy - sleeping here is one of the best which I had last time.
2) Perfect and helpfull staff - all what you need is in frontdesk (open 24 / 7)
3) Breakfasts (included) and food in general - various, full and very tasty.

Let me tell that I was in various hotels and acomodations but I never met so openminded, helpfull staff as here.
And I never had such breakfasts and lunches as here.
This is the hotel for those who prefer hospitality and quality of service more than infrastructure.

PS. BTW - Walking distance everywhere:) - this is Tiszaujvaros

The buliding is a real relic from socalism from in- and outside. Apart from this, the equipment is ok, the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the air conditioning was not working in the room, it was a lot hotter than even outside, meaning 27-30*C during the whole night which made sleeping practically impossible. I was on a business trip and spent two nights here, so it was very inconvenient that I could not work and rest in my room due to the temperature.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights on business as my usual hotel the Veronika was full. Prior to this I had never stayed here before however I had been warned against it on previous occasions, now I can fully understand why.....
I arrived at around 7pm after two flights and a long drive from Budapest. Following check in I asked if the hotel restaurant was open, to which I was told no. How about the bar? No. I then asked if there was anywhere nearby that was walkable to which I again was told no. Great start, with no food available anywhere (aside from the local Tesco a five minute drive away which I didn't bother with as I had enough of travel for one day) I went to bed. I subsequently found out the following day there is an Italian barely five minutes walk from the hotel.
After walking through the soulless, very unwelcoming reception area (I doubt any part of the hotel has had any decoration in the last 30 years) I took the lift (noisy and clattery) up to my room which was a sight to behold. The carpets were very old, worn and stained, all the furniture was at least 30 years old (and very well worn again), the bathroom light would not work, the toilet would not flush properly (meaning there was always a pungent smell in the room) and the blankets on the bed I initially thought were curtains as they were almost see through!
After waking up especially hungry the following morning having not eaten the night before I was hoping for a delicious breakfast, however it consisted of a poor quality continental buffet (bread, jam, hot dogs and scrambled eggs).
I returned to the hotel that evening and found that the bed had not been made and the towels hadn't been replaced from the day before, I thought about complaining however by that point I had lost the will to live.
After another invigorating breakfast the following morning I was delighted to check - out and leave.
A hilarious point worth noting, on the main page of the hotel's website it states 'preferred by businessmen', I would like to re - phrase that to 'you would only bring your family here if you really hated them and you would only stay here on business if the Veronika is fully booked'. In addition, this is absolutely NOT a three star hotel, by UK standards this is about he standard of a 1 star Etap hotel. If this is a genuine three star by Hungarian standards I would love to see what a two or one star hotel is like.
Personally I don't believe that any amount of renovation can save this hotel, it needs pulling down and re - building from scratch.
As soon as I got home I put all my clothes etc I took with me into the washing machine for a long wash in case I had brought any little friends (bed bugs etc) home with me. It wouldn't have been a surprise!
This is perfect hotel you would visit to commit suicide. I certainly felt like ending it on a few occasions during my visit!
In future, when I travel to Tiszaujvaros, I will base my travel on the availability of a room at the Veronika. If it is full, I shall move the dates of my trip to suit. I will never in a month of Sundays stay at this hovel again.

Room tip: I would imagine they are all of sub - standard quality. Stay at the Veronika.
