We arrived at Casa Isabella to be greeted by the beautiful and glamorous Isabella and her friend Emilia who had together dressed the house for Christmas. It was a veritable Christmas Wonderland. The purpose of our stay was to celebrate my birthday; I love Christmas, so the festive decorations made the occasion all that much more special.
We were welcomed with a light lunch and for our breakfasts Isabella prepared a typical Italian spread. Both generous and varied it included yogurts, cereals, croissants and other sweet delicacies, as well as tea and delicious coffee served with hot and cold milk. Presented on the beautifully set dining table, Isabella made us feel like royalty.
The bedrooms were all absolutely gorgeous; furnished with antiques and sumptuous fabrics we had everything we needed. The comfortable living room included a fireplace and, although the central heating was on, with plenty of firewood provided we lit the fire each evening and enjoyed our pre- and our post-prandial libations in front of it.
Isabella (and Marco, who we sadly did not meet, though we did speak on the phone) could not have been more welcoming and helpful. One day we shall revisit the charming little town of Rocca San Giovanni and stay at Casa Isabella to enjoy the superlative hospitality offered by Isabella and Marco.
