Location - fabulous! Less than 2 hours from our home in JHB.

Pool - DIVINE & an absolute bonus to the property.

Facilities - general kitchen area was great for a very relaxed family / friends vacation. Nothing fancy at all – basic, but perfectly adequate.
Would suggest more serving dishes & utensils.

DSTV was a nice surprise for the sports fanatics!

VERY SMALL FRIDGE & limited freezer space though. We were 8 pax & were using cooler boxes & bags of ice etc to keep things cool.

Rooms – basic, but adequate. Def not 5* but fine for a relaxed weekend in the bush. (Container 'kids' room is exceptionally hot!)

Reception is up & down if you rely on mobile signal.

We had very poor game viewing, but sometimes this happens - disappointing owing to the fact we had a guest from Canada with us for the 1st time in the bush, but sightings are never a guarantee. Ranger could have been a lot more informative & interactive - barely spoke to the guests on the vehicle. If there’s no game - at least tell the guests about the flora & fauna, the reserve, area history, weather etc.

Did have a lovely family of Woodlands Kingfishers nesting in the tree by the pool though - they were great to watch! Bird life in & around the camp is fabulous.

Staff – Moses & Disario (?!) were wonderful!! Such a blessing. Thank you for all the firewood & doing the copious amount of dishes!

Overall nice for a quick break from JHB, for a reasonable price.
Don’t expect too much & you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: The room on the LHS of the gate, set back close to the fence - nice size, 2 bathrooms + a bath. Fabulous shower pressure as well!

Wow - what an amazing long weekend away at Dinonyane Bush Lodge! Who knew that such a treasure lay a mere hours' drive from home! The lodge is meticulously maintained and the employees (Pilate & Moses) were extremely helpful. The lapa and swimming pool made for the perfect laid back entertainment envirnment which we were looking for whilst not out viewing game. The evening campfire sessions whilst listening to the grammy winning sounds of mother nature herself where beyond perfection! What a joy to spend the weekend in the middle of the bush - having access to the big 5 (of which we were lucky enought to spot 4) and not having to drive for hours on end.
Thank you Dinonyane management and staff for a wonderful, chilled out & stress free weekend!

Very good stay with a guide who is very keen on all the biology in the reserve. Sundowners at another private camp, and a camfire and braai in the middle of nowhere were just very special. Accommodation is separate chalets style camp with a fantastic communal area and pool, and well serviced by the staff. The camp is securely fenced.
Excellent game viewing, giraffe, zebra, fantastic kudu, etc, plus fresh signs of elephant (not seen), and we missed a cheetah by minutes.
Being only half an hour from Pretoria, one couldn't get much a better chance for a weekend away from the rat race, or even a mid week break and still be just on your own. Large camp will cater for families or groups, so you can be as private or as social as you want to be.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys getting away. As the reserve is still new, it will be good to see how the area develops over time.
