What a fantastic place. We visited in July with our 3 kids and had a wonderful time. The house was very well equipped with all we needed. The Kitchen is very large and well equipped. It is very roomy and the kids certainly enjoyed having a bedroom each. The pool was great and was well used during our stay. it is deceptively large and deep. It was lovely and warm despite been unheated. It has a Balcony at the front which we enjoyed sitting on having a glass of Albarino wine on an evening as the sun went down, overlooking the hills of northern Portugal. The gardens were well looked after and everything was clean. The owners have a lot of information in the house about the area (places to visit, things to see and do and places to eat, etc). There are also lots books to read and games to play. WiFi would have been a bonus for the children but we certainly didn't miss it.
The area itself is quite rural. The house is set on its own, is very private and is more or less surrounded by grape vines. There is a small Spar/Butcher shop 5 minutes walk away which we were able to get nearly everything we needed, and some local bars 10 minutes or so walk away. The Minho river is a 10 minute walk and there is a lovely circular walk which takes you along the the river where there is a play park.
A short drive takes you to the coast and the beaches of Baiona and Nigran which were great for the kids, and they loved bodyboarding.
Galicia is a wonderful place. The house is located perfectly to explore the area and there is so much to see and do. We only scratched the surface during our week.
We will return.........!
What an amazing house! Our stay was one of absolute perfection. The property was absolutely gorgeous and stocked with everything one would ever need for a comfortable stay in Spain. On arrival we found a lovely welcome hamper which was a fantastic touch, attached was a lovely personalised note wishing us a pleasant stay. This set the tone of the holiday. The owners have literally thought of everything and it really shows. From the well stocked kitchen to the washing machine and dishwasher, this house makes holidaying here very easy. It was a most beautiful space to relax in. Bright and airy, very homely, with a terrace and a balcony, a BBQ and a large pristinely kept swimming pool. Each of the rooms were dressed with everything you need for a comfortable nights sleep, extra blankets, bed side tables with lamps, dressing tables. It was like a home from home in the glorious Spanish sunshine. This is a large, well loved home with neighbouring vineyards. The property is not overlooked which gives a feeling of complete privacy adding to the relaxing feel of the place. Opposite the terrace is the breath taking view of the mountains, frankly you will have to go a long way to find a more relaxing place, the views and smell of the eucalyptus trees which perfume the Galician air are second to none. Our stay was completely blissful. The house has a romantic feel as the sun sets, we definitely hope to return. It is worth mentioning that the property is extremely competitively priced. We stayed for 10 days (but could have stayed forever). There is a local shop which is well stocked, it takes a few minutes to walk here. This is a property with real soul, the owners pull out all the stops to make your stay a welcome one. This place comes highly recommended. You will be hard pressed to find better.
