Hotel Trebol in Carboneras is an absolutely marvellous place - a hotel where everything is perfect, starting with amocable staff, ready to help you with any wish, coziness of the hotel, spotless cleanliness of the rooms, nice set of amenities in the room, lovely breakfast with buffet choice AND personal attention to what you wish to get apart from the buffet...Moreover, it is a rare thing to see in Spain, but the quality of the construction work done in the hotel is perfect, the rooms are even quite well izolated - the hotel was completely full when we were there, yet I had a feeling that there is nobody in the rooms around mine. The hotel has an inside parking too, which you have to book apart, but it is worth it, because parking outside on the streets of Carboneras may not be simple. Entering to the parking needs a bit of expertise though - it is as narrow and curvy as usual in Spain - though the owner would be able to enter with hugh Mercedes without any problems, my dad had problem to manoevre my 3 door Seat Ibiza. But inside the car is then absolutely safe, nobody else may get in and out, since the entrance is vigilated and operated by cameras from the front desk and you only get the by inside lift from the hotel. The only thing the hotel lacks is the fact that it is not directly on the beach, it is second line "only", 50 metres from the local beach, by the local communication. But it is as it is and it does not matter since you will most probably be heading to explore Cabo de Gata and its changeable landscape and various playas. The in my opinion best beach, Playa de los Muertos, is only 5 kms away from the hotel. Make sure to have leave the hotel on reasonable hour, not too late, to park up the playa without problems to find a spot. We were leaving like at 10.30 on busy July weekend and we were there among the first to park. There is also a bar nextdoor which has music on until the wee hours but I assume this might be irritating for the people who sleep as badly as me. Maybe try to ask for the rooms close to the corner rooms with sea view - my parents had that one and said the didnt here anything at all.
To stay in the hotel, you dont really need anything, There is a plenty of huge, soft towels, amenities include a shampoo, gel and body milk which are pleasant to use and do not irritate your skin, the hairdryer works efficient enough to dry even long hair (which usually is not the case), there is a minibar fridge too, the offer of which is basic but sufficient and not too overprized and there is space enough to put there your oven big bottle of water. The aircondition works efficiiently and you operate it yourself.
Just to add further explanatation, I have been living in Spain, Alicante. I had also been to Cabo Gata before with my friends and this time was taking there my parents this time, and was looking for some top place yet not that overprized like some of the hotels over there, e.f. Valhalla Spa. Hotel Trebol is very very very reasonably prized fof the quality of accommodation it offers. I am absolutely planning to go back there again, with my friends, or again with my parents. It is a good place to go in a for a nice romantic stay, too. It is not a hotel where I would go with a couple of children, I think. It is a design place.
