We stayed at this hotel while walking in the Piedmont area. We found it very comfortable but the highlight was the superb meals. The first night we had a "taste of Langhe' menu and the second a three course meal. Everything was interesting and beautifully presented. The wine list is large but we were very happy with the recommended local wines, both red and white. Carlo, Paola and the staff are all delightful and helpful, breakfast was great with good coffee topped up without needing to ask. The old town of Cortemilia is only a stroll away. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear have view of the lovely garden.

My husband and I have previously stayed and eaten at Villa San Carlo in Cortemilia, always with great pleasure. With my brother and his wife arriving from abroad we wanted them to experience the flavours of Piedmont in the same way that we had, so we booked a cooking course with Carlo.

We‘ve done a number of cooking courses (Barcelona, Bangkok, Puglia, Siena...) and as expected, Carlo did not disappoint! His desire to share the secrets of local foods such as nocciola, tartufo bianco and barolo was exactly what we were after. But the highlight for me was hearing Carlo‘s personal cooking philosophy, passed down from his father, and now exercised in his restaurant each day.

Since that course we are even more inspired than ever to experience the food the way that the locals do, and have even bought a pasta machine. Thanks for the inspiration Carlo, looking forward to our next meal from your kitchen :)

If you are looking for a five star experience with three star prices in the Piedmont area, I should like to recommend the Villa San Carlo Hotel. Chef Carlo Zarri is a Sommelier and accomplished chef that has served the Olympics in Salt Lake City and Torino, in addition to Sophia Loren and Michele Obama. We spent nine nights there and enjoyed a nice continental breakfast and excellent three course dinners. Chef Carlo, wife Paola, and waiters Roberta and Anka were gracious and very attentive. Cooking classes with Chef Carlo and sous chef Mattia were fun and informative. Northern Italian cooking uses little butter and more olive oil in their preparations.
We were escorted daily by our tour guides, Roberto Torrini and his wife Lynn from Interpro Travel and each day was filled with fun adventures touring wineries, historical sites and cities in the beautiful Piedmont area. The weather in October 2017 was terrific, although Northern Italy is experiencing a severe drought.
If you want to get away from tourists and enjoy the villages of the Piedmont area, you won't be disappointed with the Villa San Carlo hotel.

Room Tip: The room was comfortable and adequate by Italian standards

Gem. Good rooms great food and good company! The dinner was good and the breakfast as well. Nice people and the beds were comfortable. Nice drive through the wine area. Ask hotel for directions as gps gives you the longer round about way.

We had a wonderful weekend with exceptional food. How nice for Chef Carlo to appear throughout the service and everyone made the 5 course meal extra special. The drive there was beautiful and we loved the scenic views from every direction. Don't miss out - make your reservation today.
