Review of Lakawon Island

Lakawon Island
Reviewed April 4, 2018

This island was awesome if you need privacy. It's not yet discovered by many but you will appreciate its beauty once you got there. When were here, they are improving the facilities and accommodations for the tourists i guess. This place has lots of picture perfect spots for your ig feeds. Artsy! Also you could visit TawHai Floating Bar for some new experience. It's design was also cool!

The sand in this beach is as fine & white as in Boracay. facilities like hotel to stay in ,a restaurant and cottages are already available but still improving. The Beach water is nice and clean to swim. However, the only attraction here is the floating bar. Since this is a private island resort expect that food at restaurant like fresh food for cooking are a bit pricey. Going to this island takes about 1 1/2 hrs by private car from Bacolod , 20min waiting time for a boat ride from a small port in Cadiz plus another 20 minute boatride. This is a nice place for summer outing. More improvements may be needed for this place as the demand for nice beaches grows due to impending closure of Boracay.

We stayed in a Barkada Suite for 2 nights, which cost each person PHP 4,068, inclusive of Tawhai Passes for the whole stay. This is comparatively expensive vis-a-vis other resorts in the region. Based on the price point and online presence, I was expecting a luxurious island spa weekend experience. Oh was I wrong.

The Good: Clean and Spacious, Free Bottled Water, Living Space, Balcony, Bathroom Amenities

The Bad: 2 Brownouts during our Stay, 2 Coffee Facilities for 6 People, Very Spotty Cable TV

The Ugly: NO WIFI, the Rear End of the Building (Faces the other unphotographed part of the island, and is less maintained.)

The Good: Food Tasted Decent

The Bad: Expensive (Each meal the 6 of us shared set us back at least PHP 200 without drinks, which is ok except that these were very simple viands—adobong pusit, inihaw na liempo, pakbet, bicol express. We had very tiny appetites too.), Scarce Supply (They ran out of food very quickly, even if it did not seem that the place was at full capacity.)

The Ugly: —

The Good: Housekeeping, Polite Staff

The Bad: Inefficient Systems (In the restaurant, I tried to order directly at the counter. The lady at the register told me to order from the waiter standing next to her, who wrote my order on a piece of scratch paper and handed it to the lady.), No Assistance at the Port to Boat and Upon Arrival at the Island (I was carrying a small luggage. When our boat docked, staff asked us if we are staying overnight, and we said yes. I thought they’d take my bag and escort us to reception. They didn’t.), Took Too Long to Bus Out Dirty Dishes

The Ugly: NO SPA (Notice the place’s name is Lakawon Island Resorts AND SPA? They have massage advertisements in the room, but when I called to book an appointment for Sunday afternoon, they said that the masseuses had already left the island and will not be back until the next weekend.)

The Resort projects itself to be this luxurious and picturesque experience but it severely disappoints. The beach huts along the shore are too many, and the island is overrun by daytrippers. Now if you paid good money to have a secluded vacation, this is a letdown. Also, the facilities need to be maintained. Tawhai looks so photogenic but couches are awfully dirty, and there’s no effort to clean up all areas of the boat.

perfect place if u wnt to relax and jst be with nature =) very accommodating staff, only did a day tour since we have a flyt in the evening but the 4 hours stay is very worth it, they have a restaurant in the island, a lot of shower n restrooms, very affordable to go to, 300 entrance fee with boat rides back n forth, =)
