Green Verde Resort Inn
Reviewed 31 December 2015

We stayed in Green Verde, as all other accommodation was booked out. Upon arrival late at night I was very disappointed - the room was very humid (fan only) and it was that typical backpacker hostel set-up of shower right next to/above toilet - no chance of feeling refreshed after a long trip over. The host kindly offered us a free standing bungalow and whilst this was very kind, it didn't change the feeling of the shower/toilet, however in the morning the world changed. The family running this little place is wonderful, very caring and helpful. They must have the best groomed garden and the beautiful little restaurant right on the beach serves a limited, yet very tasty range of dishes. On a stormy day there is little chance for a swim due to strong currents, however you can stand in the water and paddle around; and it is a little frustrating to be located right next to a real resort with a large pool. However, the Sheridan is sterile and Green Verde is local, so it was quite special sharing it with the little family - all of which were helping out to make it as clean and comfortable as possible. Sunset cocktails at the Sheridan for Happy Hour can only be recommended and if you happen to be at Sabang beach for a full moon, you will get those perfect paradise photographs at night.

Last but not least, we did like that it was located right next to the actual town, you could leave the beach and meander along houses and chat to locals.

Waiting for the ride to the underground cave requires some patience, but time passes quickly as there is plenty of opportunity to observe the buzzing plaza from where boats take off.

Overall, can only recommend Sabang beach - our first choice would have been Duyong Hotel, however we still enjoyed our stay. Thank you to the hosts!

Room Tip: Wifi in restaurant. I would choose bungalow F2 as located closest to beach and room set-up is most s...

ACCOMMODATION: This place is "not hot, not cold". Not really anything.
All beach 'resorts' (except for the two upmarket ones) have nipa huts and seem to sell for 500-1200 pesos, depending on size, no. of beds, and views. This one is no different. The location along the strip is convenient, not too far but away from the busy dock area where 100+ daytrippers hang around at any given time. The hut wasn't the best, we've seen both better and worse ones; the neighbouring shower leaked into our room, the shower wasn't working well and the flooring was shabby, but it had a sea view and a nice deck, and a good bed with clean linen. Because it was low season, we could choose places and when we decided to stay at Green Verde, Luis seemed to be grumpy all the time because we'd bargained with him(?) and then because we left after one day(?), very strange. The couple in the neighbouring room had the same experience.

So I'd not necessarily recommend this place but neither is it necessary to avoid it.

The FOOD however was very good and reasonably priced. The filled squid, chicken adobo and fish in coconut sauce were all tasty. Service was pleasant. However it took forever until the food was served.
On sunday morning they didn't serve breakfast but we found a place down the strip that did.

Room Tip: Seaview and esp. sea wind are pleasant during the night

We sadly didn't stay here and I wish we had.
A lovely spot on the beach - peaceful and a great view.
The food was delicious - we came here 3 times and the mango pancake is highly recommended.
If you want to arrange tours talk to Louis here as he sorted the zipline and mangrove tour for us.

Rooms were very basic but that was to be expected and wasn't a problem at all. Staff were really friendly and spoke good English. Restaurant was reasonably priced and had good food. Be careful when you arrive in Sabang as a local called Elmer will approach you and try to overcharge you for various activities. The little kiosk at the front of this hotel has a nice guy selling the trips who was very honest with the pricing so book through him if you want to do anything. From here we took the boat to Port Barton which took 3 hours and cost P5000 if that helps anyone.

The huts are nice, in nicely gardened compound with beach in view. We chose the limited electricity option. (Electricity only from 5pm until 10pm)

The resto was good and cheap. They got a few activities like motorcycle hire. The waves were body-surfable sometimes.

I fully recommend this place if you want to relax and not get smashed too hard by vendors. Was fully impressed and hope to return to this place.

Room Tip: The front rooms at front are the best I think.

At 1600 peso/night I expected more.
This is truly bottom end. Fine if you pay bottom end but it's upper price for back packers.
Our extra guests during the night include red ants on the floor and in the bed, rats in the ceiling (sounded fairly big!) and a dog ripping thru the trash can out side and scratching at our door all night. I had to drink 2 large rums just to be able to sleep! The bathroom is very old and rough and the entire villa is in a bad state. I'm not exaggerating and this is easily my worst review of any place but I feel strongly and I'd like to advise others.
