Every single food item was absolutely perfect and delicious. Owner-chef Mehmet Dikmen and his team recreate recipes of the 14th and 15th century Ottoman palace kitchen. Constantinople (named Istanbul in 1930) had access to a wide array of food ingredients due to its geographical location on the trade routes. So the palace cuisine was highly refined.
We thoroughly enjoyed the chef's recreations, they were nothing like any other Turkish food we knew, and seemed modern at the same time.
From 18:00 to 21:00 you get to choose between three set menus for 7,700 (7 courses) to about 14,000 JPY (10 courses); from 21:00 you can also order à la carte; last order 22:00. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxed at the same time. The service was friendly and professional, explaining every food item (Japanese and English). When Mehmet came to the table he was readily answering my question about the soup recipe (a fabulous onion-asparagus soup). He is very passionate.
We will be back!
