As cat cafes go, the humans are willing to pay way too much to play with some 4-legged friends. Cat Cafe Mocha at Harajuku Takeshita St was no different. There really should be a different price for the families with kids (since most of the time parents are there only to accompany their small kids not to hang out with the cats). The place was clean and the amount of cats was ok. We came in the early afternoon and cats were playful enough. Just keep an eye on the clock -- because you final bill will get higher by the minute!

We turned up (ie no need to book). The girl went through the pricing and made it clear we had to pay 200y per ten minutes, or part therof including time spent fussing with your locker and needing the only one toilet. You have to pay 350 also for a compulsory drink from a vending machine.

Two large rooms joined by a hallway. Approx 15 cats. All very cute. Some playful. Some asleep on the cute fake trees and cat perches.

You have to pay 500y for a cat treat which is a lolly on a stick. I saw two girls buy one and the cats surrounded her, disinterested in everyone else.

It had been such a dream to go to a cat cafe, so maybe my expectations were too high.

We stayed 25 minutes in total.

The cats are beautiful here, they look loved and well looked after and the interior is also really nice, clean, and modern. Love the cat trees. Be sure to pay extra to give the cats some treats as they all come running to you, its adorable. Great for all cat and animal lovers :) Be aware that it can be a bit expensive, especially if you end up staying for a long time!! I think its a good experience to do at least once though - tick it off your bucket list here! I have been to three cat cafes and this one is my favourite.

We chose this café just by chance. You pay per minute and there's a drink flat rate. The staff to get in and to get out and pay were very slow and not only we had the wrong amount to pay. Inside, it's friendly, there's plenty of cats, but they were all somehow completely ignorant, we were wondering if they were one some sort of special drug.

As far as cat cafes go in Japan this one is good, and for many reasons. Reading through the complaints from other visitors, many of them are just part of the culture and the experience. Yes, people and events can move slowly even though it's Tokyo. Yes, you are responsible for keeping track of your own time. Yes, taking your shoes off and storing them in a locker will probably take a couple minutes of your time. And no, the employees may not all be fluent in English but they are extremely pleasant and more than willing and capable of communicating with tourists to answer your questions. Prices are on par for this type of experience. The atmosphere of this cafe is the best I have experienced in a cat cafe. It is roomy, open, well-lit and clean (no cat urine smell). It's a comfortable place to relax even if you're not into cats. As for the cats... they are the friendliest and most approachable cats I have found in a cate cafe. Lots of beautiful designer cats, of course, including a munchkin. They tolerate people quite well, and are not suspiciously sedate as is usually seen in these cafes (they can also leave the room if they want). They genuinely seem like happy and well-cared for cats. It's insanely fun to pay a few extra dollars to feed them treats. You will get an apron and a spoon, and the cats will have a large mat to sit on (to help keep everyone and everything clean!). It's very cute to see how well the cats know the drill once the tools come out, and you will be the center of their attention! They are surprisingly polite with each other, too. If you are looking for a cat cafe experience, or for a fun weekend or evening diversion, stop in here!
