The Pros:

Love, love, loved this hotel! The people at the front desk are so kind. Some of them only speak limited English, but they know the basics and try their best to help you with what you need. They were absolutely stellar in customer service and my friend and I always enjoyed coming back from going out because the front desk people always greeted us so warmly.

It rains a lot in Japan and they have complimentary umbrellas you can use outside! They also have free tea/coffee/water on one of the floors, which is really nice. And they also have free breakfast of pastries, breads, hardboiled eggs, tea, coffee, and juice until 9:30 am. This was nice to have when we wanted to quickly have something to eat before jetting out the door. Even when you don't have room service to turn over your beds, they hang bags of new towels and amenities on your door, which I thought was really nice! They automatically give you new q-tips, razors, toothbrush, and toothpaste. They also give full sized soaps in your shower, so you don't need to keep getting refills of the little ones like you usually do at hotels. Lotions and stuff, though, aren't in your room and come in packets down by the front desk.

The location is great! Close to the train station, which can take you basically anywhere you need to go. It's also close to a lot of department stores and bars, so this place felt very central.

The downside to having a hotel close to bars is that sometimes you'll hear drunk people at night on the street, but it wasn't super loud or constant, so it didn't bother us very much.

It's a simple hotel in Shinjuku, close to subway station and to various bars and restaurants all around (and to the gay district, yes). The rooms are small, but clean and functional. It's perfect if you need to stay somewhere for the night - either when going out in the evening, or simply when you are on your way somewhere the next day.

There is a coffee machine on one of the floors, so you can get free coffee/tea/water 24/7. The staff at the reception were efficient and the check-in/out went very smoothly and fast.

Overall, especially for the price of a hotel in Tokyo, it was a very satisfactory experience.

For the price, I would rate this hotel as very good value for Tokyo - I paid approximately £53 a night for a single occupancy room.

I also liked the location - central in Shinjuku but away from the very bustling centre - close to public transport and on the edge of Tokyo's small and rather cool gay district with lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

There is nothing fancy about the hotel - the decor and furnishings are rather dated and dreary. But everything is well kept and clean and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful.

As for the room, I had a double bed which was pretty comfortable and reception were happy too provide an extra pillow, and the window let in plenty of natural light. The attached bathroom cubicle was extremely compact but fine.

The free breakfast is very limited but was very welcome - it's basically boiled eggs, breads, butter and jams, and juice and milk and coffee. I brought my own cereal and used the milk to pad it out a bit.

All, in all very happy with my choice - especially considering the price.

Making a quick 4 day trip to Tokyo, I needed a cheap hotel in Shinjuku. Lonestar was perfect.
The hotel ticks all the boxes, very clean, quick check in, efficient staff, free wifi and right next to a subway exit.
The room I stayed in was small, as is the bathroom, but for the this price in the middle of Tokyo, what else do you expect.
Its a short walk to all the Shinjuku highlights. There is also a free if somewhat plain breakfast.

Just 25mtr out from exit C10 shinjuku sanchome station.
So close enough if we brings big luggage.

The room is so small, but still can be manage to open 2 luggage.
The bed is double bed size, but stiff and the pillow is quite unique (there some things small beads in it)

The best things in this hotel are
Free coffee, water n green tea installed in 4th floor.

They provided simple breakfast too
