I love the Toyoko chain of hotels in Japan because they are extremely affordable, well maintained and conveniently located. This property, already located right in the middle of red light district in Shinjuku, offers an experience that is fun and lively. I never find myself in danger in any case going in and out of the hotel. After all, this is Japan.

For this budget the rooms are definitely small, though it has everything. Even for the smallest single room you will find an electric kettle, a mini fridge, a hair dryer, a humidifier, a small TV, a small work desk, space under the bed for your suitcases, as well as ice machine on every floor. Not to forget free breakfast every morning.

Travelers should be reminded however for the following:

- expect a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Shinjuku station. If are arriving in large suitcases, you may consider taking a short cab ride instead of pushing your heavy bags along busy streets of Shinjuku;
- the in-room hair dryers are very weak. Even for a short-haired guy like me, I ended up going to an electronics store to buy myself a decent hair dryer that works properly. It's a nice souvenir for myself anyway so I ain't complaining;
- the elevators are very small so in peak hours in the morning near check-out times, you may see yourself unable to get in since one couple with 2 suitcases may have well occupied two-thirds of the space already;
- make use of the cafeteria area. If you decide to bring takeaway for dinner with your friends, you can bring them to the cafeteria area in the lobby to enjoy which also has a microwave. Make sure you clean up properly afterwards.

Lastly, if the Toyoko chain is somewhere which you see yourself returning in the future, join their membership program. You will enjoy certain rate discounts, advance booking privileges, and a free night after every 10th night stay. Need I say more?

for those who are handicap or disabled, they have rooms dedicated which are double the size... for the same low price!

once U enter the room U will be amazed it is so spacious it is comparable to a four-star-hotel !!!

The room is okay and provides free breakfast. But if you bring lots / heavy luggage with you, you will feel a little bit tired when walking from station to the hotel and vice versa. The environment is more complicated, but if you go with your family, I think they won't bother you.

I've stayed at many Toyoko Inns. This time due to last minute plan I could only find availability here. It has always been in my radar but location of the red light district puts me off.
Man, I am really glad to be forced to stay here! And this branch is now one of my favourite!

Below is my observation:
- In red light district but non-threatening and not in the immediate vicinity.
- 5 minutes to Higashi Shinjuku Subway Station (Oedo & Fukutoshin Lines), 10 minutes walk to Shin Okubo JR Station and 12 minutes to Shinjuku JR Station. The walk to the Stations is interesting - Dotted with eateries, hotels, bars and shops. Even a 24h Don Quixote!
- Near to Golden Gai - A great drinking alley. Even though you don't enter, it's still interesting to meander around.
- Very nice room especially upper floors due to slanting window - using blind rather than curtain. Gives the room a more modern feel. My single room Had a Semi Double. So it is pretty big for a single stay.
- Very quiet
- Nice Shinjuku skyline from the window.
- 7Eleven very close by
- Not on main road. Thus, peaceful surroundings
- There was even a Western receptionist.

My only negative comment relates to their breakfast.
- The breakfast selection is smaller than other TI. So imagine how pathetic it can be..
- Some days have OJ. Some days no.
- No grilled fish.. No sandwiches anymore (I saw a photo in TA in 2010). But they do serve Onigiri as well as rice.
