Nice hotel and nice room, friendly staff and open to help. However, awfull breakfast with just a poor salad and juice.
The room was big enough (speaking about Tokyo where all is small), clean and bright.

While the shinjuku rooms are smaller (it is Tokyo after all), The Toyoko Inn Shinjuku mains the high standards found thought The Toyoko chain.
The staff are helpful, happy and hardworking and, the hotel offers the essentials for ease of living.
Pleasant, help yourself breakfast included, along with laundry facilities, for you to wash and dry your clothes.
Nicely located but, noise from street level can be a problem - depending on location of your room and day of the week.

Toyoko chain is a pretty trusted decent budget hotel. All of them are basically exactly the same. Affordable, clean, got all the amenities (free wifi, free breakfast, washer/dryer (pay a small fee to use), pajama cabinet, facial mask for the ladies, shower cap, etc.) Lots of eateries and nightlife and shopping close by, but still quiet and easy to sleep at night. The walk to the main Shinjuku JR station is about 10-15 mins, but there are closer subway station nearby. There seems to be a nearby Korean town (eateries, shopping, etc) as I walked pass by when I got off the subway.

Stayed for 4D3N in Dec 2017. Non-Smoking Economy Double Room with Breakfast for 37,362 YEN.

- Location: 5mins walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station, 15mins walk to JR Shinjuku Station, close to many food options
- Membership: The Membership is definitely worth it and pays for itself in no time. If you're going to stay for multiple nights, do sign up
- Breakfast: Little options but it is an easy start to your day

- Location: It is near to the Red Light District. However, it felt very safe
- Small Room: Seemed bigger than I remembered, but isn't very big if you are used to luxury hotels

Great for budget travellers. Will be back!

I love the Toyoko chain of hotels in Japan because they are extremely affordable, well maintained and conveniently located. This property, already located right in the middle of red light district in Shinjuku, offers an experience that is fun and lively. I never find myself in danger in any case going in and out of the hotel. After all, this is Japan.

For this budget the rooms are definitely small, though it has everything. Even for the smallest single room you will find an electric kettle, a mini fridge, a hair dryer, a humidifier, a small TV, a small work desk, space under the bed for your suitcases, as well as ice machine on every floor. Not to forget free breakfast every morning.

Travelers should be reminded however for the following:

- expect a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Shinjuku station. If are arriving in large suitcases, you may consider taking a short cab ride instead of pushing your heavy bags along busy streets of Shinjuku;
- the in-room hair dryers are very weak. Even for a short-haired guy like me, I ended up going to an electronics store to buy myself a decent hair dryer that works properly. It's a nice souvenir for myself anyway so I ain't complaining;
- the elevators are very small so in peak hours in the morning near check-out times, you may see yourself unable to get in since one couple with 2 suitcases may have well occupied two-thirds of the space already;
- make use of the cafeteria area. If you decide to bring takeaway for dinner with your friends, you can bring them to the cafeteria area in the lobby to enjoy which also has a microwave. Make sure you clean up properly afterwards.

Lastly, if the Toyoko chain is somewhere which you see yourself returning in the future, join their membership program. You will enjoy certain rate discounts, advance booking privileges, and a free night after every 10th night stay. Need I say more?
