After a disasterous flight arriving too late to get any train to this hotel, we got a taxi that arrived at 4am!! The hotel staff waited for us to arrive and were very gracious about the late arrival.
In general the staff were friendly and helpful despite limited English ( we dont speak any Japanese ).
It was a real shock to us to walk in to the room and realise just how small and cramped it was. The twin beds were basically jammed together and the bathroom/toilet area was so small I could only just squeeze in to it. I have no idea how the staff made the beds so quickly and neatly each day as I couldn't get my legs down the top or bottom of the beds to get past them. Only one pillow to each bed was also a bit of an issue for me as they seem to be straw or grain filled and pretty small.... not really uncomfortable but much firmer and different to what I have at home.
Having a shower was a real logistics exercise to avoid punching a hole in the roof or wall. The water was hot and plentiful though and they had good big bottles of liquid soap and shampoo. The batch was deep enough to have a proper bath but your legs are really scrunched up around your chest or hanging over the side or up the wall.
It was also a cultural education getting used to the toilets with electric control panels, I wont go in to detail but it is disconcerting ( and everywhere we went in Tokyo )
The hotel is very close to a great railway station complex with a couple of different lines and it was easy to get to many places including the Haneda airport from the great location.
There was no temp control we could adjust but they kept the temp at a nice liveable level that was fine to sleep in, despite it being very cold outside. ( Pity the window was only a very short distance from the wall to the next building... not even enough space to stick your head out )
I was also surprised there was no free to air TV which didnt bother us at all, but may be a concern for TV addicts. Storage space was also severely limited for our bulky bags and packs. It was essential to sit on the beds if 2 of us were in the room together.
Would I stay there again?? Probably yes, as I hear a lot of other places are the same in regard to size, and it was a lot cheaper than many other alternatives we checked before we went.
