We travelled with friends to stay in this wonderful property on Korcula and had a wonderful time. On the edge of the village of Lumbarda, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the apartments are let together as one large house. Set in a beautiful garden, full of shady places to sit and eat, or to be in the sun if you feel like it, the house offers privacy and peace with nature on the doorstep and village life around.
Vedrana is a wonderful host, welcoming us with homemade cakes and grappa, and ensuring we always had everything we needed during our stay, whilst offering privacy and quiet. The house is simple inside, with a basic kitchen for cooking your own meals, but comfortable and spotlessly clean. It can easily sleep eight people.
The village of Lumbarda is a great place to stay: the little harbour and beach are right at the bottom of the steps from the house, as is the pizzeria Torkul for cheap and delicious wood-fired pizza and the restaurant Feral for grilled local fish. The village is full of historic houses, has a market where you can buy local vegetables, honey, and olive oil and supermarkets for provisions. There are also plenty of bars and cafés, places to each, and places to book activities or rent boats etc.
From the house it is possible to walk along the coast to numerous local bays and beaches, some with bars and parasols, others with nothing but rocky coastline, shady trees, and crystal clear water. There is a bus into the main town of Korcula (which is about €3 return) or a taxi will cost around €12. We rarely went further than walking distance from the house during our week though, since there is so much to see and do, and it is so peaceful and relaxing.
