I loved my time at the Northern Edge, the staff and owners were lovely and every inch of the property both exquisite and intentionally laid out. Nestled between the lake and the lush forrest, I felt that I was in a little slice of heaven on earth. I am already planning my next journey back to this sacred space. My accommodation was cozy and quaint. Hats off to the chefs Gregor and Allister who made each meal an explosion of flavor.

I've been to the Edge many times participating in the shamanic programs and Lomi Lomi training. As soon as I arrived, I knew this was my home away from home. I had found my shamanic family. Martha and the circle of facilitators she has trained are all highly skilled shamanic practitioners, heart-centred and integrity based. Martha and Todd are warm, loving hosts. The Edge, with its solar powered heart, is not just a retreat centre, it is a way of life, inviting you to live in balance with the land and Mother Earth. The food lovingly prepared by Greg is divine, tailored for every diet from vegan or gluten free to complete omnivores like me! The cabins nestled in the woods are pristine with comfy beds. Kawawaymog Lake is lovely for swimming, canoeing, paddleboarding or kayaking with everything you need right there. When you come out you can go directly to the Finnish sauna, Grandmother Cedar House. Tripping into Algonquin Park is a fantastic experience and right across the lake from the Edge. What are you waiting for??

Room Tip: All of the cabins are amazing!

My friend and I just came back from our third (now annual tradition!) weekend away at Northern Edge Algonquin. Once again, the food was delicious, the other guests were interesting to talk to, and our guides Jeff and Kim were open any of the activities the guests were interested in trying.

In previous years we have done canoe day trips, hiking to look for wildlife, bike rides. This year we spent a lot of our time learning how and then exploring the lake by stand-up paddle-boarding. Also this year, Jeff and Kim took some guests out by car and truck to some areas where the moose would normally be spotted, and we were lucky and got a brief glimpse of a cow and calf. I can't lie, the mosquitoes were quite active this weekend, but the weather was amazing! There are ways to make everything work though, and being on the water the only bugs were the dragonflies, so it didn't really matter. Plus they have a few bug suits that others used to go bike riding. Another great thing to do was the wood-fired sauna they had going on Saturday night, and we all did a few rounds in the sauna followed by running into the lake to cool down.

If you are looking for an opportunity to choose whether to be active, or to relax, be fed very very well, get a chance to explore the Algonquin area, and are looking for something a little more down to earth and eco-friendly, this place is for you! We stayed in one of the small canvas cabins up in the woods. They are small, cozy and have no heat or electricity, so come prepared.

Tips - Don't forget your flashlight. Plan to get wet. And expect to be happily tired and ready for bed early!

I had a wonderful time @ Northern Edge the beginning of June to attend a Yoga Retreat and what a magical weekend it was. The beautiful surroundings right on a lake with nooks, restful areas to reflect,go within & contemplate. Which is just what I did. Plus swimming in the lake @ 4:30 in the morning under a full moon with the am mist at a distance then followed by dawn yoga & breakfast was just bliss. A dream place to just turn off completely and just be. The staff were all very welcoming and
friendly. The food was superb. The accommodation in the cabins were more than adequate. Was sad to leave will just have to go back again.

Northern Edge Algonquin is like a home away from home. At least that's how the Lucier's and the staff of Northern Edge make you feel. From the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave -- you are family.

There is plenty to do and see and experience while at the edge. Activities include sauna, water sports (kayak, canoe, SUP), crafting in the steward's shop, gardening, relaxing, hiking, yoga, campfire etc etc etc. The food is divine and a true expression of the slow food movement. Made from locally sourced organic ingredients Gregor makes your taste buds come alive with the perfect combination of flavour, spice, and love. #trustinthegregor. Family style dining reconnects you not only to the people around you, but the pleasure of dining and conversation!

If you prefer to be closer to nature, the canvas cabins are the best choice, but if you need a washroom during the night, pay the extra $$ for a cabin (peat eco toilet, running water). Go to the edge, push yourself to the limits and see how much you can accomplish in just a few short days.

Driving Tip: Just keep driving, follow the signs, eventually you will find your way to paradise. When you think about turning back, keep going forward, eventually you will arrive at the edge.

Other tips: Bring lots of eco-friendly bug spray (mosquitos are hungry!), a flashlight (you have never seen darkness like this before), and bathing suit/towels for the sauna and swimming in one of the best lakes ever!

Hi Meaghan,
Our home is your home! Thank you for sharing the #trustingregor tag. He is certainly a special character who brings much flavour to mealtime . . . and not just in the food he presents.

We hope to see you again soon.
