Stayed here for two nights for a romantic get-away. Beautiful hotel and beautiful surroundings. We had a standard room, which was clean and spacious with a big bed. We had pre-booked a package that included a dinner at the hotel, a visit to a nearby winery and a bottle of wine in the hotel room. That was all good value for money, although the wine tour was not in English. We only used the outdoor pool, which was very nice. No need to buy the expensive ticket to use the indoor thermal pool when the weather is nice. All treatments are quite expensive. I had a pedicure for half the price back in Madrid (EUR 26) compared to EUR 50 at the hotel. The hotel breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. The only negative was that most of the hotel staff didn’t speak English. I would expect that in a hotel of this standard. This was especially a problem if you have any food allergy and would like to ask what the different types of food presented contain.

Great hotel, charming, big rooms, great food if you want to dine in, but next door Virrey restaurant is better. It offers spa and outside pool. It used to be a monestry and later an university before being a hotel. Worth every euro you pay to stay and it is a 4star hotel , much better than some 5 stars in Spain

It's very beautiful old castle in a quiet village, it was an old university.
The building is amazing, you can feel the soul of the place. The staff is nice.
The room is well designed....the bed and mattress were very comfortable.
The thermal water experience was also very nice.
It's a bit expensive and they are restricted with time.
The restaurant is a must, the food was very excellent, big dishes but small ammount.

I booked this hotel off the beaten track and that time turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Just not too far off the freeway A1 and On the way is San Estaban de Osama - a village which is a must. Park at the visitor information centre, get a map and info on the walk through town, the Placa Mayor with the special pork crackling tapas with beer, the 10th century church and then walk up to the ancient wall remaining from the fortress, then along and down past the wine caves and village houses. It's a beautiful area and village.
After this it was only 30 mins on to the hotel and this is a special experience. Book the package with use of thermal spa included - that is the best value and well worth it. The huge mineral spa has every massage possible emanating from water jets and sprays around the pool. Words cannot describe!
The rooms are magnificent, the ambience of the beautifully restored 12th century monastery is intoxicating. The cafe and restaurant serve excellent regional fare in the expansive central covered courtyard area.
Everything is done with flare and pride. This was one of a kind.
