went to the Tom Jones Concert outside stadium , this was special, the parking was so organised , we were out, after show , in less than 7 mins .
This large garden developed by Colonel and Madame de Woevodsky starting in the 20's just misses my top ten gardens of Spain list, but it is a treasure nonetheless. It is composed of beautiful terraces of plant collections running down the cape to the sea. There are numerous sculptures of interest. Garden lovers will appreciate that the maintenance is outstanding, the plant identification superior and the maps accurate. Many of the paths are shaded, which is pleasant in the heat.
Our favorite features were the attractively planted entrance courtyard of cork oaks and pink begonias in terracotta pots against whitewashed walls, the formal terraces descending from the castle with their clipped plantings, the overlooks of the sea, and the cactus garden.
In the summer there is a popular jazz festival, which they were preparing a stage and seating stands for when we were there.
We spent a pleasurable 3 hours in the garden. If you are in the lower Emporda area of the Costa Brava, don't miss this experience. You can buy a coke and snacks from machines. There seemed to be a food stand or tiny restaurant, but it wasn't open when we were there; perhaps only open during the festival. The garden was super easy to find because of the tons of hanging banners advertising the festival. There is no public transport that I know of.
Really enjoyed our visit to the botanic gardens. So much to see and such beautiful colours. Had a really good walk some lovely paths. The Geranium way and the Cactus garden stand out for me. Loved the colour of the Castle brick work. Would definatly go back again.
