This is a great hotel for anyone looking to spend a few days in Calella with the family. It's very clean, has modern rooms, and has a good terrace bar, restaurant, grassy pool area and ping pong table. We had rooms facing the sea, there are also some rooms facing towards the back. Would definitely go back.

This is a good hotel and has benefitted from recent refurbishment of the restaurant. We have been twice and the staff are lovely and very kind with the children (6 and 3yrs). The rooms are a little dated I think and ours didn't have a minibar or tea/coffee making but the overall ambience of the place more than makes up for it. The gin and tonics are amazing! A fabulous place for a quiet family holiday in beautiful surroundings.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Alga and they've obviously invested in some of the public areas over the winter. The breakfast buffet area has been upgraded and the poolside shower and toilets have been given a much needed spruce up.

This time we chose one of their 'superior' sea view rooms. Superior is probably stretching it a bit but it was comfortable, roomy enough as well as furnished and decorated in a modern style. The dodgy shower curtain on the cheap telescopic rail let the bathroom down a bit though.

With so many local restaurants in walking distance we chose B&B board. Breakfast choice is limited to scrambled eggs and bacon as a hot choice (you can ask for fried or poached eggs) but the cold selection is superb with fresh fruit, meats and cheeses and a huge selection of pastries. Add in the bean to cup coffee machines and you have one happy breakfaster.

There's an excellent sized deep pool and a shallow pool for the little ones as well as the constantly manned pool bar with towel service.

Lunches can be purchased on the terrace with a good selection of salads, sandwiches and burger etc. All at (fairly) reasonable prices.

If I'm being honest, I thought the £200 odd euro a night tab for our room was a bit OTT but, as it was my other half that booked it, I couldn't complain (could I?).

The Alga is, on the whole, a very quiet hotel and a great place to relax in the sunshine or use as a base to explore the locale.

Me and my wife were getting married out in Callella and needed a venue for the reception. We had been dealing with another hotel which kept adding things onto the price, saying it was the final price then adding more bills etc etc so we cancelled and found Hotel Alga at an amazing price for 40 people. Because the price was so cheap for the reception we were worried about how the evening would be but we couldn't believe it! It was spanish luxury. Everything was taken care of, the staff were amazing, the food was to die for. Pretty much every guest said it was the best food they had had at a wedding. And the grounds of the hotel where we had appetisers and drinks for an hour were stunning and got everyone in the chilled out vibe. And the staff let us party in the reception hall until we called it a night ( at no extra cost per hour). The suite me and my wife had was so gorgeous and the breakfast the next morning made us feel like we were being spoiled!!! Thankyou to all the staff. Brilliant place for a romantic night for two. Brilliant place for families. Brilliant venue for a celebration. Brilliant!!

Stayed 3 nights July-16 in a refurbished family room for 4. Greeted warmly at reception and although I hadn't booked parking the hotel reserved a space at short notice without any fuss at all. Room was superb with plenty of space for 4, excellent bathroom, nice comfy beds and large terrace. The pool, gardens, bar, and restaurant are all splendid with great service and there are nice touches such as the poolside towel service & bar. The local town and restaurants are only a 5 minute walk away. After checking out we were allowed to stay and use the pool for a few hours until we needed to move on - nothing was too much trouble. Very highly recommended.

Room Tip: Large family rooms are superb
