We recently spent 2 weeks at La Playa and we will definitely be making reservations for next years vacation!

The entire resort was always kept very clean and well maintained.

Was it perfect? NO. Did it live up to our expectations? Yes! The location is fantastic, a 90 second walk from our room to our beach chairs, another 30 seconds and your at the Village for restaurants , coffees and convenience shopping. The property needs some updating. It is clearly time to start the renovations and updating of the room furniture. The AC worked well as did the WiFi. The room was cleaned quickly and adequately.Everything was in the ballpark of what we EXPECTED and was good value for what we paid. The mattress could have been better, the kitchen could have been better equipped, the chairs on the balcony could have been more comfortable. The Four Seasons it ain't. but it was more than adequate for what we needed to enjoy our 2 weeks there. We had our continental breakfast, which is included, every morning. The coffee was terrible, the bread basket was nice, and a choice of 2 yoghurt's. Occasionally a bit of fresh fruit, always a bowl of canned fruit cocktail which we never touched. With a little effort and not much more cost this breakfast could be much nicer. We went for coffee after we ate around the corner at the village. The pool looked nice and was getting good use from some of the other guests, we stuck to the ocean. We never had a problem getting chairs at the beach, regardless the time of arrival. The beach is busy, and so is the ocean. Lots of water sports going on. We enjoy people watching and this beach is perfect for that. You can take nice long walks in both directions from this location, which we did a few times per day. Eating and drinking at all the beach bar/restaurants was prohibitively expensive for a Canadian and we took the very short walk over to the shops at the village for a more affordable alternative. We stayed in a hotel of similar vintage in Barbados last year. It had implemented some of the improvements that are needed here already. It would have cost another $1,000.00 a week for us to have returned there. On a value basis i believe this is is line. The staff were all very nice and the management was always helpful. We would definitely return.

La Playa is a charming hotel selection for a visit to St. Martin. The hotel is perfectly located on Orient Beach. The facility itself is slightly dated but it is very well maintained and immaculate. The morning continental breakfast is served in an open restaurant steps from the ocean. By far the best part of our stay was the service provided by Katy and her staff. Their assistance with our travel planning ranging from restaurant selection to excursion recommendations made the difference in our trip. The hotel is easily walkable to a selection of fantastic restaurants. I would recommend a car to have the flexibility to access all of the other amazing opportunities on St. Martin.

This was our first trip to St. Martin. We will go back again. LaPlay is the place to stay..On the beach - only hotel on the beach. Katy Turnus is the general manager, and is very helpful....will answer all your requests. Goes above and beyond her position. Her assistant is very helpful too. Greg at the beach will help with chairs and umbrellas, food , and drinks. The hotel rooms are large and very clean. Swimming pool is very nice - large and many lounge chairs around the pool
You can also rent cars at the front desk: one day or one week whatever your needs are.
Resturant at the beach area services breakfast and lunch - good food.
So if one is looking for a great place to stay in St. Martain - La Playa is the place for you....couples or families will enjoy it very much

Room tip: Ask for non smoking first floor
