We purchased a groupon voucher for the restaurant offering a £60.00 meal for £16.
We thought we would go after visiting several times for weddings etc and see what the restaurant has to offer.
Service was extremley slow, even when there was only 4 other parties in. Our used glasses were left on the table throughout our meal.
After waiting 30 minutes for our starter we waited a further hour for our main : at this point my partner tried catching a waitresses eye however there was no one to be seen. After finally prompting them they apologised and offered us complimentary drinks. Our main arrived an hour and 15 minutes after our starter!! To be honest we wuld not of paid what they Retail Price on the menu was! Glad it was a groupon!
Service was shocking, food was ok, atmosphere dull t be honest It's put me off! Nicest thing was the friendly receptionist!!!

We stayed here for a wedding and upgraded to the dulex rooms which were of an exceptional standard. The hotel was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay here. I know the areas and although it's 5-10min drive from Leeds city centre, it is perfectly located near the motorway, not that you would know it from the hotel or hotel grounds.
The only downside to this hotel that we experianced was that some of our group didn't get a room as they had either over-booked or not booked some of the rooms properly. I'm sure this was a one off but just confirm your bookings beforehand. They did pay for return taxi's for the couple however to another hotel in the city centre.

Tomahawk Hotels, the owner of this hotel have a website which is NOT user-friendly. Instead of a simple page about their restaurant, and some sample menus, they have a page with opening times and sample menus. At this point, I missed the fact that the restaurant a la carte menu did not serve on a Sunday. The website let me buy dinner when I booked - only £16 per person), but the hotel only had their light bite bar menu, which restricted my mains choice to fish and chips or mushroom risotto (non meat eater). I don't buy fish and chips in restaurants, because that is for my local Cexcellent) chippy and I never normally buy risottos, because I have never found any as good as my wife makes and this was no different. My wife had a huge sirloin steak, which was fine. We were told when seated in the restaurant (only us, not surprisingly, but there were maybe half a dozen people eating in the bar) that there was only a commis chef on, so the menu choice was restricted. A little more effort on the website to let you know the restaurant is normally closed on Sunday nights and there would be no unpleasant surprises. To be honest, if told only a bar menu was available on a Sunday night, we would not have stayed here.

Fresh fruit for breakfast was very nice and the coffee was drinkable. I asked for eggs benedict, with the ham replaced by smoked salmon, which was no problem, except, after a few minutes, they came back to say there was no hollandaise sauce and as the chef was not in, they were unable to make any. I think you will find, as my son later said, that left egg and salmon on a bun. Spinach as well, but..... the smoked salmon should have been lightly heated - stone cold - and my wife really wants to know how you make a poached egg with a perfectly spherical hard yolk. Spherical egg yolks after poaching. How can that be?

The room (Thrum - the names are completely confusing and odd, but it isn't my hotel, so whatever the owner prefers) had no curtains, just venetian blinds. There was about 18 - 24 inches space right round the bed and another room, off a little corridor entrance, which had the wet-room bathroom off it. This room acted as a little study with a (very welcome to me as I had work to do) desk (and free wifi). Unfortunately, there was no door to the wet-room, so when one of us wanted to shower or use the toilet, the other had to get out of the study part, so not much work got done. Old hotels are quirky, odd-shaped affairs and I have no problem with the layout. The room's combined size was fine, but curtains on the windows and a door to the bathroom are all they need to do to make Thrum a pleasant room to stay in. Oh and whether it is generators, extractor fans, or water pumps, whatever thrummed (I think I just worked out why the room was called Thrum) what seemed to be all night and certainly was from about 06:00 onwards, should either be surrounded by sound proofing, or turned off overnight, because we both had a disturbed night's sleep.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

It was a Sunday night in February, but I think those weren't the only reasons the hotel was virtually empty.

Room Tip: if you are happy with no curtains (just blinds) and no bathroom door, then Thrum was fine. The surround shower was quite nice, though if it had, had a power shower, would have been the bees knees.

We booked Woodlands Hotel for our wedding venue as we loved the style and decor of the hotel and that we had heard that the food was excellent. Well we weren't disappointed.

Our experience started off with myself and my bridesmaids staying the night before the wedding in the penthouse suite. The Penthouse itself it fabulous. Extremely spacious and beautiful decor. The jacuzzi bath tub was excellent. All 4 of us managed to fit in with our champagne in hand.

The big day itself went without a hitch. ALL the staff provided an outstanding service all day and night. The food was amazing. As the bride I even managed to eat my 3 course wedding breakfast. All our guests commented on the food and service.

We had the wedding breakfast and evening do in the marquee. What a beautiful room. During our evening meal as the sun set the marquee gradually was lit with fairy lights and beautiful romantic uplighters. Our guests were actually saying WOW!!!

For the evening reception we opted for old favourite bacon and sausgae butties, garlic bread and chunky chips. Apparently they were wonderful and just what everyone needed but I was too busy on the dance floor!!

The Honeymoon suite was nice but I prefered the penthouse but I'd also rented this for my new inlaws who were looking after our 3 children over night.

All in all I have thee most perfect day and wouldn't of changed a thing.

Thank you to Rachel and all the staff for making our day so magical.

Becky and Jamie xxx

The flow of the day was perfect. They were all so organised and someone was always checking if we were happy with everything.
