The location is wonderful, away from the road, down through fields and next to a river. The pool is kept immaculately by the host for whom nothing is too much trouble. We had use of bicycles and the rowing boat. Perfect.
Wow The willow cottage is amazing and the host Claudine is absolutely fantastic nothing is too much trouble, Please if you can make time to have a chat with her, the house was spotless there was not a speck of dust.
my husband and son went on many adventures taking the boat up river and the bikes down to the village while my daughter, daughter-in law and myself made good use of the beautiful pool. The downstairs en-suite was lovely and spacious and the upstairs bathroom is huge, the balcony off the lounge gets the early morning sun so was a good place for breakfast, the walls are very thick so the house stays cool and there are lots of fans if needed. Photos do not do it justice.
Le blanc is only 10 minutes away and has every thing you need, we Visited the restaurant Maision du parc with Claudine and the food was delicious, we don’t speak French so don’t venture out much when in France so we was so grateful to Claudine.
I would not hesitate to book again, we came as strangers and when we left we had gained a new friend. Thank you Claudine for letting us stay at your beautiful home.
This is a little jewel in the heart of the French countryside. We sat on the balcony and watched red squirrels and jays in the trees and deer in the fields. The river literally runs next to the house and that will be the only sound you will hear apart from the birdsong in the trees.
The house was spotlessly presented and the welcome pack made us feel very special. The heated pool was also cleaned and hoovered every day and we used it even though our stay was well into Autumn.
The owner, Mrs Scott, was fantastic. She made us feel so welcome and even offered to bring us croissants and bread in the morning and take our rubbish to bins every day.
I would say that the house is very near to a stream and a river so children would need supervision but, for us, the house, Mrs Scott and the surroundings were a perfect combination for a week of peace and quiet.
Willow cottage - and Claudine,- live up to the description and previous reviews. The cottage is in a delightful location, in a valley beside the river with access onto an island. Being in a valley meant chasing the sun throughout the day, but this wasn’t a problem with two patio areas plus pool area.
The nearest town, Le Blanc, is a 10 minute drive away and has supermarkets etc. There are so many other towns and villages round about to visit, and there is plenty of information provided by Claudine to enable you to decide where to go and what to do.
If like us you want to relax a lot, spend a day watching the red squirrels and await the deer at dawn and dusk.
Booking a gite / rental property can be pot luck, despite checking reviews. So, we went armed with “essential” items for us, such as sharp kitchen knives, tea pot, comfortable outdoor chairs to relax in. We didn’t need any of them - this is the one property where everything is provided and of good quality!
Sadly, we were unable to use the boat on the river as the water level was so low this year....but that means a return visit will be on the cards.
Excellent location right by its own mill stream, island, pond and weir. Plenty of walks and cycle paths nearby if required.
Very tranquil, no cars or people passing as the lane is unused by other traffic as it leads only to the property.
Fantastic wildlife with deer in the field to watch, trout and crayfish in the river.
Pool excellent and heated to help in the mornings
Cottage has all the facilities you would want and only 10 minutes to the local town (Le Blanc)
Claudine the owner is very pleasant and helpful if you need anything.
Would thoroughly recommend if you want peace and quiet and getting away from crowds
