I wasn't staying in this hotel, but my parents were and I was there every day. Jimmy is so warming and welcoming, its always so lovely to see him!
A beautiful hotel tucked away in a Alykes away from the busier strip, but a short walk to restaurants and bars

This was our second visit and was just as good as the previous time.

We visited with our 19 year old son and his girlfriend and they enjoyed it as much as we did.

Jimmy and his family are quite unique in the hotel business in that they genuinely make you feel like they are taking you into their home. Nothing is too much bother and any help they can give - they will. Yes, Jimmy can be quite cost focussed but the man is trying to run a business in a tough environment.

Hotel is a bit of a walk from the 'town' and even further from Alykanas but it is a nice walk.

However, that distance makes it an idyllic location and one where you can enjoy the Greek sun in peace.

We love Zakynthos and have been coming here on and off since 1992. Our children have their fondest memories of here and Kalamaki and made some lifelong friends. My daughter even worked in Alykanas in her gap year and when she left uni.

Very special place with very special people. Only downside is that the traditional Greek families that run a lot of the hotels and restaurants have been usurped by the 'foreign' Eastern European nationals that do not share the same welcoming culture (in my view...).

This was our first family holiday abroad as a foursome (although we were accompanied by a set of grandparents as support...) and Alykes Garden Village was an obvious choice as we've been here before and know that nothing is too much trouble for Jimmy and the family in terms of looking after guests. We knew it would be a good option for all the unknowns that travelling with 2 small children could present.

The complex is lovely and clean and you are assured of a warm welcome. Jimmy is always on hand to offer his encyclopaedic knowledge of the island from where to eat and drink to organising car hire if required. I'd advise getting a car, even if it's just for a day or two as the island is absolutely stunning and worth seeing more of.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the third floor and although the Cockerels occasionally get noisy, this just adds to the country feel of the location. It's worth being sited there to hear the lovely noises of the crickets in the fields as you walk back from Alykes at night. The location is great with a beautiful view of the hills opposite and the wonderful beach at Alykes is only a ten minute walk away. This beach is great for children and our two spent hours building castles and splashing around in the shallow sea - you can walk out for ages and still be in your depth.

Alykes itself has loads of places to eat and drink and it's definitely worth walking down to the Paradisiakos by the canal. Fidelio is great for breakfasts. We went right at the end of the season so it was quiet but still had a bit of a buzz about it.

Jimmy is constantly investing in his hotel and you can see this from the new shaded area over the pool bar and the refurbishment programme for the rooms so this place will only get better and better. We had a brilliant time here.

Room tip: The views are better from the third floor and get one with a big balcony if you can

...but it was end of season I guess.
Jimmy, though approachable, seemed a touch brusque. The place was clean enough but very basic. The other residents were over 50/55 and if I was a little unsteady on my feet I would be concerned with the shower. The curtain does little to stop the water run onto the floor to the drain in the middle. Very slippy floor tiles! Drinks are expensive, wine and G&T -€9. That's uk city prices! Good measures though.
Nothing to do in the 'busy' area of town but beach and restaurants so hire a car and get around the island. Great food down there though, we liked the Piccadilly and the great Dimitri (the wife liked him 🤔).
At 9.30pm, we were the only ones left in the restaurant and the bars were empty. Find the Iris bar and pitch up in there every night. Tina's great, and there's some atmosphere there.
Jimmy tried to charge us €40 to keep the room for a few hours more even though the hotel was empty. The Avra hotel close by charged us €20 to keep our bags in and shower. I recommend you talk to them if poss. Or tell Jimmy €40 is too much...?
Agree with other posts, Nancy was lovely.
Bed, best I've ever stayed on. (Room 101)
And definitely take earplugs - bloody cockerels! We heard them crowing at 12.45am one night!!!
