Fabulous afternoon - we were picked up from our hotel and met a few others at Kilim Karst. From there we zipped a little further down the river in a speed boat where our guide, Mandy, explained the kayaking part of the tour and then got us all into kayaks. The kayaks are very stable and pretty straight forward to manoeuvre, plus as they are small they enable you to go into narrow areas within the mangroves which we had all to ourselves.
Seeing the mangroves this way was very special. We also saw the eagles circling overhead - amazing. After a couple of hours kayaking- with lots of breaks - we went back to the floating restaurant for an early but simple dinner. Then on to the bat cave and home! A wonderful afternoon.
The floating restaurant has a fish farm - seeing the fish in small and less than ideal enclosures was disappointing. The poor things are held in captivity in small spaces - one very large fish (a groper?) looked very sad and the poor ray seemed to be trying to break out.
