This is not a great hotel and in my opinion not with the stars. Despite booking months in advance for 5 nights I was given one of the rooms near reception. No sound proofing and lots of road noise. Moved next day to 58, I think which was nearer the beach and less noises. Room is very basic, no shelves, no bedside tables or lights, basic shower, but worst for me was that the promised terrace was simply a shared walkway. Also as others have said lots of noise from adjoining rooms. Little things, like the bedside lights, or to be given complimentary water would have made a difference.it does however have a good position close to a beautiful beach, where they provide sun beds, but not enough for everyone. Not worth the high reviews

Room Tip: Close to beach, not the rooms near reception

We didn't expect much when we get that due to the price.
However, when we get there, we found the room to be quite well kept and air con was functioning well. Beds were comfy but the pillows abit soft. The ambience is relaxing and best of all, we have a private beach to enjoy the sunset almost all to ourselves.
Location is just a 5mins walk from restaurants with plenty of options.

For the price, I believe this place is quite a steal! Also, the staff were v friendly.
Will definitely recommend my friends to stay here.

We love this place and had stayed twice before as have our kids; so we are not strangers to the Sunset at all.

This trip we were NOT sent a booking confirmation AFTER sending our credit card details, so we phoned two weeks before the arrival date and were told that we were definitely booked in and they were waiting our arrival.

Not so! When we arrived around 5:00PM we were told that there was no booking as we "had NOT provided our credit card details" - which clearly was not the situation. We also noted that half the property has been sold and that there is a vast new project being built next door - so perhaps they did us a favor!

When we pushed the point the lovely lady at reception phoned around and booked us into a large hotel in Kuah - which was good.

Disappointed and warn absolute caution with the booking process!!! Unfortunate and rather sad!

This hotel was disgusting - dirty, loud, no wi fi, no hot water, no customer service from staff or interest in assisting guests. Stayed in 108 which cost $115 australian dollars per night. The room was filthy and had dust bunnies and large hair clumps from the previous guests. Room not properly insulated so could hear noise of next door neighbours all day and all night as the adults drank beer and smoked outside our room with their noisy, rude children shouting and carrying on. Water in shower was not hot, and would not even qualify as luke warm even with the hot tap up all the way. No wifi available in room as signal does not stretch that far so could not do the work I had planned to. Security of room questionable with a single small lock on the door and door not tighly sealed. Receptionist both times we had a question was sleeping at the front desk (even at 930 am!). Absolutely revolting hotel, awful service, and would have gladly and fairly given zero stars for our experience if it was an option.

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel, you will have a terrible time at the Sunset Beach.

Sunset beach is a simple but charming hotel . There are no mod cons , but what you get is a large room and bathroom , friendly staff and a charming setting . You also have access to virtually a private beach . How long it remains that way with all the construction going on around it remains to be seen.

Once upon a time this used probably to be a super place to stay in Langkawi. Until today, the resort is very well located and the staff is super friendly and obliging.
There have been obviously a few changes in the last time:
- you have to be aware, that there is a huge construction site which will make you not sleep long and even worse: which will disturb your stay at the beautiful beach.
- there are only 7 (!!!) mattresses for the sunbeds, on which you can't relax without, because it will give you back pain.
- our room wasn't very well cleaned, the fridge was mouldy and the room itself very dusty. Towels and sheets were old, with lots of spots and old dirt on it.
- last but not least: the WiFi is so bad, you can't even use WhatsApp most of the time.

This all wouldn't be much of a problem if the prices were lower. I guess the prices is the last bit remaining of the good old times, when sunset beach resort was what it still promises to be.

Its a special resort because of two things Location and beach. Location is simply awesome not only for shopping or food but for beach also as they have their own small private beach which is quite relaxing and away from the hussle. For the rooms, I didn't find anything special. They don't provide welcome drink or water, coffee maker was provided in the room. Washroom was big compared to island standards. Sunset resort is different because If you Wana enjoy beach and relax and can get any type of food by walk then its a heaven for a visitor.
