My boyfriend and I traveled to Costa Rica for 3 weeks, in June, and we absolutely fell in love with Casa Buenavista and its owners! We were initially supposed to stay only 2 nights, but ended up staying an extra night because we loved it so much! It's a little quiet paradise in the mountains owned by a really nice and charming couple from Italy. The place is gorgeous, surrounded by a beautiful garden and just up the hill from the Pacific ocean and an amazing private beach called Playa Carillo. This beach is by far prettier and more private then Samara beach. Playa Carillo is the perfect place to hang out all day, under the sun... And then at night, you're only a 5 min drive away from Samara and all its groovy little bars and restaurants. There's an Argentinian steak house that Cinzia and Florenzo recommended us, that's literally around teh bloc from the B&B that you absolutely have to try. I can't seem to remember the name of the place, but just ask Cinzia and she'll gladly tell you where to go.

Also, the daily breakfast cooked by Cinzia is absolutely incredible! Really, it's that good! She makes her own bread, marmalade, cakes, muffins, etc. It's delicious! My boyfriend is still talking about the food to this day :)

Go to this place, you'll fall in love too!

Our stay at casa buenavista was beautiful. The room was very nice, big and clean. The breakfast, especially because it was self made was awesome. We really enjoyed staying at Cinzia & Fiorenzo house. The beach is just a few minutes from the b&b and just beautiful. We've been there at off season, so we had the beach just for ourself. Carrillo is a sweet little village, with all you need. It was also very easy to get there. You just take a bus from San Jose, for 7$... Overall is was one of our nicest holidays and we would live to come back some day.

Wonderful place to stay near Carrillo Beach. The room was such a cute cozy place. The whole property was immaculate. We loved the gardens and the breakfasts and our sweet hosts. Enjoyed the short walks to Carrillo Beach each morning and evening. The water was perfect, waves just the right size to enjoy and we felt very safe. Also enjoyed the local soccer games and the nearby restaurants. Hope to return again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This is an update to our review that we wrote 12/24/11. We stayed at Casa Buenavista again in May 2013 and found it to be as wonderful as the first time. It was like returning to see old friends as Cinzia and Fiorenzo are so very warm and welcoming. We stayed in the same guest room (the one downstairs) and found a new queen size bed which was wonderful and a new wardrobe. There was plenty of room to hang/store our things/clothes which was great. They have also completed some new landscaping. The plants and flowers were beautiful! Cinzia's breakfasts were fantastic with fresh fruit, homemade bread and jam, coffee and hot tea, and homemade cookies and cake. It was so nice to sit outside and leisurely eat our breakfast while watching the birds. We laughed at the parrot next door in the mornings with his chorus of holas and hellos. We enjoyed the use of wifi in our room to catch up on e-mail. The beach was as remembered, being beautiful and pristine and only a short walk from Casa Buenavista. We plan to visit again and again!

Oh . . . I wish I were there right now! Cinzia and Fiorenzo's home was relaxing, uplifted and healing (we both received excellent Shiatsu treatments from Fiorenzo). Together this kind, dependable, and engaging couple have created a well-tended, much loved gem right up the hill from the beautiful and sparsely populated beach, Playa Carrillo. I want everyone I love to go visit!

And all the glowing comments from the other reviewers are all true. Cinzia really does get up sometime before 5 a.m. to bake a mouth watering assortment of breads for her guests and presents these along with homemade marmalades and freshly cut fruit in an artful spread every morning in their outdoor rancho (covered area for relaxing). I felt so pampered. Our room and bathroom were always impeccably clean with fresh sprigs of flowers that appeared daily while we were out. Both Cinzia and Fiorenzo were warm and friendly when we were looking to engage in conversation and intuitively respectful of our private time as well (we were on our honeymoon). And the town was perfect. I was so happy to stay in Playa Carrillo instead of Samara, which was a jumble of tourist shops. Our little local beach was perfect for swimming, sunbathing, meditating and sweet morning runs (which I often ended up taking with some local horses out for their morning romp in the surf . . . talk about beautiful!). I'd also highly recommend doing something fun with Tad (also known as Popo) at Blue Barrel Surf School in Playa Carrillo. We went for an early morning kayak and snorkeling trip with him. He is a wealth of information and stories.

Enjoy connecting with these lovely people in such a beautiful relaxing place!
