We chose Casa Buenavista based upon the excellent reviews. Cinzia and Fiorenzo are special hosts as described and certainly helped make our trip perfect for our needs.

Playa Carillo is an amazingly beautiful and unspoiled beach. Breathtaking might be the best way to describe it. There are no hotels on the beach and never will be any. Therefore the lodging choices and restaurants are all up a hill, including Casa Buenavista.

The property is maintained impeccably and was clean and tidy. The breakfast was indeed wonderful!

We did check out a day earlier than planned because my wife sprained her ankle a few weeks earlier. I took a walk down to the beach and back, but my wife is at least a few weeks away from recovering and making that walk, as it is up a fairly steep gravel road.

Cinzia graciously accomodated us and gave us many excellent tips. We relocated to a hotel directly on Samara Beach, which made everything much easier for my wife.

In making a choice for your lodging, if you are looking for beachfront, the price will be considerably higher for comparable properties. If you want to be closest to the most beautiful beach in the area, Playa Carrillo and Casa Buenavista is a great choice. If you are looking for more spacious quarters, the Samara area would be a better choice. The rooms at Casa Buenavista are adequate in size, but when luggage is placed in the rooms, it can get a bit tight.

But all in all it is a great value and affords the opportunity to stay in a superbly operated bed and breakfast, within a modest budget.

We stayed at Cinzia´s and Fiorenzo´s B&B for one week and we felt very welcomed. Cinzia and Fiorenzo are such lovely, warm and kind hosts and we fell absolutley in love with their beautifull garden. The homemade breakfast is actually the best you can get in all over costa rica and we loved sitting in the garden, having breakfast and talk to lovely Cinzia and Fiorenzo and listen to the stories they told us.
They are very helpfull with everything you need and the rooms are very nice and get cleaned every single day.
Carillo is a nice place to relax, where you can easily go out for Dinner because it is a very safe area. The beach is awesome and if you like to go to Samara it is very easy to go there either by bus or by taxi.
All in all it was the perfect stay in casa buenavista and we would recommand everyone to stay as long as possible at Cinzia´s and Fiorenzo´s B&B!

My wife and I travelled to Costa Rica for the first time in Feb./15, and our first stop was in Playa Carrillo at Casa Buenavista. Cinzia and Fiorenza began helping us months before we arrived by recommending a local company called Carrillo Adventures to shuttle us from Liberia airport to Casa Buenavista. The Carrillo Adventures driver and guide met us at the airport, and dropped us right at Cinzia and Fiorenzo's door, after a stress free drive to Playa Carrillo.
When we arrived at Casa Buenavista, we were cheerfully met at the gate by Cinzia who immediately led us to our room. We stayed in the "Claudia" room, which is on the ground floor. It is an immaculate bedroom, has a private bathroom, a beautiful hot water shower, and a private patio which is in a beautiful tropical garden. An apartment sized fridge in the room makes it easy to keep snacks, drinks, and ice for your enjoyment.

Playa Carrillo is a small town, and Casa Buenavista is located in a perfect position to access everything. The beach is a short walk down the hill, and was a long stretch of beautiful sand with reasonably calm surf. The beach had very few people the days we were there, and most of them were Tico families enjoying a day off at the beach. Most mornings, when the Howler Monkeys were most active, I walked down and fished along the beach, I was completely alone except for people on their way to work. If you want to enjoy a day at a busier beach with more restaurants/bars, and waves for surfing, it's only a short drive to Samara.
The restaurants in Playa Carrillo were all a short walk from Casa Buenavista, and served fantastic meals with great service. A special thanks goes to El Colibri, an Argentine Steak Restaurant that prepared fish that we caught (check out our review). There is also a small grocery store nearby.

The breakfast you are served at Casa Buenavista will blow your mind ! Homemade breads, muffins, jams, and marmalades served with omelettes and fresh fruits will change the way you start every day, and are served in a lovely area in the tropical garden. The garden itself is worth the price of the stay, and Cinzia and Fiorenzo work constantly to keep the yard in immaculate condition.
We loved our stay in Playa Carrillo, and especially Casa Buenavista. We want to thank Cinzia and Fiorenzo for their special attention. They are a perfect example of the Bed and Breakfast experience more people should try. We can't wait to return some day. We consider them more than B+B owners....we feel like they are friends !
