This is a Public House that you have to go to. Carthorpe is a little off the beaten track but only a couple of miles off the old AI south of Bedale or 15 minutes north of Ripon or East oF Masham. We recently booked to celebrate my birthday as we had been told that it was a great place to visit and we were not disappointed. As we walked in through the door it was buzzing with lots of people dotted around many tables. When booking you are asked if you want to eat in the Bar or Restaurant, both are full of character but for something a bit special go for the Restaurant. Delightful waitresses wait on table and the landlord will also add to the mix. Nothing is to much trouble from dietary requirements to extra veg, everything flows. Local fare is on the menu and great food, my partner had Steak Pie said it was the best he had ever had. Fresh Fish was served to the rest of us from light crispy battered to succulent Hake Delicious. Desserts for the guys were Rhubarb and Ginger Crumble and Sticky toffee pudding both homemade. We had such a good night and won't need a special occasion to visit again
