Visited for lunch for my friend’s Birthday. Asked for table near ‘fire’ as last time we sat in conservatory - which has wonderful views - but was quite cold. Meal choices and food excellent. Service quite inattentive but all pleasant servers. Was disappointed when asking for a candle on pudding to celebrate Birthday. Was informed.......they didn’t have one - really!?
Enjoyed our lunch anyway......

Having been on the East Lancs Railway the previous evening (only a few minutes away) we were keen to finish off our visit with a memorable lunch.
The pub has been refurbished to a very high standard and of course has splendid views over the Irwell Valley.
The staff were very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable.
The food was of a very high standard (especially the Cheese and Onion pie) as well as being quite reasonably priced.
We will happily come back again

Popped in yesterday with my friend Janie and her rambunctious toddler Elsie. A lovely pub with a glass fronted dining room offering splendid views of the local countryside.

Food was amazing. Janie opted for a delicious looking cured salmon, whilst I went for the watermelon, blood orange, feta and almond salad. Elsie seemed happy enough with her houmous and vegetable sticks. Being a delicate eater, for a main course, I opted for the brill with samphire and shallots with a lobster sauce, whilst Janie practically licked the plate clean after greedily devouring her shin of beef. It was a thumbs up from Elsie for her mac n cheese too.

I'd like to mention the staff and how helpful and friendly they were, they also seemed to have a lot of pride in the place too. We'll definitely be back to try the "double bomber cheese pie" that was recommended to us.

Nothing is too much trouble at the trendy and busy Eagle and Child. The service is friendly and attentive. We were a family group including a baby enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch. The choices are limited but we like that , goat curry , mackerel and home made soup. A roast for main or an amazing cheese pie for some of our group: all beautifully presented , hot and delicious. Home made puds finished the meal , crumble and custard , absolutely lovely comfort food in a delightful setting.
