Lovely setting, nice room, really comfy bed and a good evening meal.
A few details let it down a little- not serious but if addressed would make a positive difference.
The hanging baskets at the front of the hotel are clearly in their death throws so not a particularly good first impression!
The waitress serving the evening meal could not explain what Eton mess was to two American guests despite several attempts they had to try to get a response. I had to eventually help out!
Had to ask for butter for the bread- not automatically provided.
The bath has been installed with the slope highest at the shower end which causes problems for tall people!
If you like a croissant for breakfast you need to be on your toes as at 9o'clock none left. Apparently after 2 baskets have been provided that's it !!
No natural plain yogurt provided only 2 types of fruit flavour- not something they "do"
Gin served with all the tonic already added and with strawberries floating on the top!
On paying the bill not asked if we enjoyed our stay nor if everything was ok nor wished a good day / safe journey.
Shame because overall a good many positives but the devil is in the detail as they say.
A few tweaks and this would be a 5 star rating.More
