“Lovely place to stay - good location for Bath”
Reviewed 16 December 2011

We stayed here partly due to the very positive reviews, and also because of the lack of decently priced accommodation in Bath itself. We were not disappointed. Rowena greeted us like old friends and gave us a tour - a lovely house where we immediately just felt at home. We had booked a room in the Coach house, so she showed us 2 of the upstairs room so we could choose - again, just a nice touch. The room itself was a good size, with a very generous bathroom - big fluffy towels and robes too - and some nice tolietries too (sorry Rowena we did take a couple of bottles and the shoe shine!!). Huge LCD TV and a very comfy memory foam bed. Great room - not too posh, just really comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was sadly too rushed - our fault entirely as we were heading to the Rugby - so we did not have time to really enjoy what was an excellent continental spread (with optional cooked) and of course the sparkling wine......note to self - when staying at Woolverton, make sure you allow more time to enjoy your breakfast!!!!!. We met Mike who was equally as nice and welcoming - and who was kind enough to post back the mirror we left in the room - great service!. Lovely people, lovely hotel - its only 11 miles from Bath so an easy drive if thats your destination.

Oh, and we could have stayed 2 nights for the price of 1 as we were there for the Rugby - worth knowing if we draw Bath again......!

We stayed only one night but would love to come back again. Huge bed in a large room with a superbly eclectic selection of furniture from around the world. Everything was of the highest quality and we felt right at home immediately thanks to our hosts. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

We headed off to Somerset for an impromptu weekend away and found a good deal on late rooms. With the great reviews here, we thought "what the heck" and booked in. We showed up a little early on Saturday and were shown around by the people who are looking after the place whilst the innkeepers are enjoying a holiday. We were upgraded to the bigger rooms and get a choice of rm 3 or 4. They were both equally great so we took 3. The beds are super kings with fluffy duvets and there are loads of huge towels in the bathroom. The downstairs is as stated in other reviews really big with lots of games/ things to do and coffee and tea always available. We went to the pub next door for some good pub grub at reasonable prices and then had a great night sleep. Breakfast was plentiful and continental style and we were sad to leave. All in all, highly recommended. You can tell the people who run the place really love what they do and it shows.

We had a lovely weekend stay at The House. The building is very grand, with lovely rural views. The rooms were very comfortable, although we could hear a bit of noise from the communal spaces at times.

The hotel serves a continental breakfast as standard, with the option of a cooked meal at a small extra cost. There is lots of communal space on the ground floor, with a bar, living areas, games room etc. and lots of outside space for warmer days with outdoor games.

The rooms are all decorated with Nepalese furnishings, which is not what you would expect when you pull up outside, but are very colourful and the whole hotel provides the location for a very restful weekend away.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bigger rooms on the first floor.

We turned up at this place on the way to Bath at about 6pm. We were intrigued by the sign "Share a Bed with us". We hadn't seen any of the reviews but after reading these would have to agree it is quirky but a good place to stay. The owners are currently on holidays and the place is being run by a family who do a great job looking after you. They are only recently to the area but gave us some tips. they recommended the Mill in Rode which was an excellent dinner. The rooms are good and breakfast is served in a sunny garden room. Close to Bath but you don't pay the prices in Bath

Room Tip: They willlet you select the room

We booked here last minute on Late Rooms. We didn't expect much as the pictures just do not do it justice in the slightest. As soon as we arrived we were amazed by how beautiful it was.

The people that run it, Rowena and Mike, are so friendly, you feel more like a part of the family than a guest. The rooms are all individual and we were allowed to pick the one we liked most. The finishing touches were excellent, with robes and vanity packs etc. The efforts put into the rooms and the house itself are all personal little touches, such as puzzles and games at the breakfast tables, and the service matches this excellence.

The continental breakfast was superb, and Rowena shared a glass of prosseco with us, on the house.

If you are after a square white-roomed boring hotel then this is not the place for you, but in that case you will be missing out.

We loved it so much we have booked the entire place out and hired the grounds for our wedding in 2013.

Having read the reviews on 'the House at Woolverton', I got the impression that this would be a nice place to stay, if not a little quirky - we wanted to try something different.
I booked a night for my boyfriend as a birthday present, following a visit to Longleat Safari Park. Upon arrival, any worries I had about this being too 'quirky' (we are Londonders used to standard chain hotels) vanished immediately, rather it's charms were refreshing. We were greeted by Rowena, an immediatly warm and inviting lady, who showed us around the hotel. I booked an 'Attic' room and Rowena let us choose which room we preferred. We chose a yellow room with beautiful furntiure which Rowena explained had come from India. The views from the room were stunning - English countryside as far as the eye could see.
The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in - really. The only problem I had regarding sleep was that I was kept awake by snoring from the room behind us, but this was not something the hotel had control over!

Breakfast was a real treat. We joined Rowena's 'Sunday drinkers club' with a glass of Prosecco and ate a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, pasties, breads, boiled eggs and juices. My boyfriend also received a cup cake with a candle in it for his birthday! A lovely personal touch. This truely was a lovely stay, aside from the snoring of another guest, which was truely irritating!

This is a 'Home away from home' hotel/bed and breakfast. The owners were destined to do this job - nothing was too much trouble for them and they have created a really charming place here - a treasure! When I asked what time we had to check out, I was told that it was quite relaxed so any time was fine. We subsequently, headed back up the curly wooden staircase to enjoy a post-breakfast nap in the world's comfiest bed! What a treat.

I'd also like to add that the night we stayed, Rowena and Mike were cooking up their Church Farm steaks for dinner but could not cater for vegetarians so we were recommended a nice restaurant called The Mill at Rode instead. Despite not being able to cater for vegetarians (this was a bit daunting for Mike!), Rowena helped us in every way find food elsewhere, and in the morning, after realising I was relaxed about what I ate, she apologised and said she would have made me some sort of pasta dish had she have known! It was like being at my boyfriend's parents house!

Love this place.

Room Tip: Attic rooms have a great view.
