This was our second stay at Forest Syde Cottage, we love it and have decided to adopt it as our base when we're back in England visiting family and friends. We're a family of four. The cottage is thoroughly equipped, clean and decorated as a home, not a rental.
It's location is so convenient, great for seeing the New Forest, but also close to the motorway for going further afield without having to navigate pesky tourist traffic through the forest.
There are two very good pubs across the road, there is a never-ending stack of firewood for the fireplace and Catherine generously leaves some basic provisions (including sausages and bacon!) so you don't have to rush out for groceries on arrival.
Lovely clean, spacious and well-equipped cottage. Visited in winter and it was cosy with an open fire. Location is really convenient; traffic not too bad in winter but will save you sitting in traffic down to Lyndhurst in summer! Yes, you can hear the road traffic, but once inside it is not loud and did not affect us. Good selection of pubs to choose from nearby. Catherine is quick to communicate and helpful.
The location is excellent - with lovely villages close by and larger towns and beaches an easy drive away. Catherine (the owner) was wonderful, only a phone call away to give directions to help us get to this great place.
Excellent property in a great location. Very comfortable and well equipped, nice & cosy in the colder weather. The pub opposite is v good and there are lots of places to visit v nearby. Definitely recommend :)
Perfectly located with easy access to the New Forest and the motorway network. The property is well equipped and spacious with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Catherine is very helpful, accommodating, and responsive when the need arises. This was our third visit and it is definitely starting to feel like a home from home.
Just got back from a lovely week at forest syde. Was perfect for 4 adults and a child. The house was the perfect size for us with everything you could possibly need for a week away, it's basically a home from home. Thank you for the bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausages, butter and wine, that was a really generous touch. Very much appreciated after a long drive. The cottage was easy to find and perfectly situated close to some great places such as beaulieu motor museum, Portsmouth historical dockyard, walking distance away from the new forest open bus tour shop. There are plenty of pub/restaurants nearby as well as a morrisons supermarket. I would definitely recommend thus cottage
The cottage is lovely, with lots of space in a typical cottage garden, everything you require is there. Catherine is available almost instantly if anything is required, the welcome pack is indeed welcome, saves having to shop over the weekend, we suggest shopping in Romsey to fill up for the week. Table and mirror in double room and a wardrobe in one of the others would be useful, the summer house and pool table were a nice touch. The only downside is the M27 and A31, not to bad in the day, but at night with windows open it can be disturbing. A couple of good pubs and nice walks in the immediate area, we had a very good holiday. If you need a sandy beach try Boscombe, the beach is very good, can not say the same for the town,
