Took my mum to lunch, her first venture out after shielding. Everything was very satisfactory. The service was polite, friendly and attentive in all respects. We were served fairly quickly and felt safe with regards social distancing and hygiene. The food was well presented, warm and tasty. This is a 3 star hotel and I have recently experienced far inferior to this. Good value and worth a visit.

Ample free car parking on site
Friendly staff
Bedroom was clean and spacious
Breakfast additional £10pp which we felt was a little excessive so did not take
Apart from the Pub next door nothing much in the area but this was fine for us
Overall a pleasant stay at a reasonable rate

For the start of our little staycation we chose pembrey as the 1st stop for 2 nights.
Checking hotels and reviews we decided on the Ashburnham Hotel but now wish we hadn’t!
On arrival it stands fairly nice and the staff were nice enough, the room we booked was an ‘Executive room’ not really sure what makes it that, as it’s very dated and the bathroom is in particularly need of a make over and repair.
All the fixtures are worn, wallpaper peeling off, the room itself is leaning to one side, the TV remote didn’t work which was a pain when we wanted change channel or anything before bed.
The bathroom water pressure is diabolical so showering was a chore to say the least, the basket of products obviously hadn’t been checked as the shampoo was empty.
Restaurant:
This is what really lets the place down in my opinion the service is pretty shocking!
The staff seem far from interested in helping or serving at times.
We sat for dinner and ordered a drink but most of the bar pumps were out of order so had to drink poor replacements.
The menu isn’t bad but was told they were out of quite a few dishes.
Food arrived and taste wasn’t bad but the portion sizes weren’t the best.
Then we ordered desserts... 30min wait and nothing! The restaurant was empty by the way.
Another couple ordered there dessert and 5 min later there’s arrived! So enough was enough and we went to pay, we explained we hadn’t received ours and could it be taken off the bill (if indeed it was even added).
Breakfast:
What a farce this is.. we pre paid with room booking (£10pp) but looking at the room menu it was extremely sparse.. we were however informed ours would include croissants and a full breakfast.
What arrived was a bowl of cereal and tea or coffee and a plate of what can only be described as junk. A very burnt sausage, 2 rashes of bacon, 1 hash brown and some scrambled egg!
Where’s the beans, tomato or something moist!
£10 for that I don’t think so. Needless to say there were others around not eating much of it.
The breakfast member of staff seemed very put out when we asked if we could have our coffee and tea as it didn’t come with our breakfast just the cup.
Needless to say we won’t return and advise anyone looking to stay in the area to look elsewhere!! Very poor.

This is an hotel my wife and self have visited many times and also stayed on two occasions. It is ideally situated for Bury Port and the Pembrey coast and offers all one would want in terms of friendliness, good food and cleanliness. The one downside for me is that they don't carry any real ales but, just 50 yards, or so, away is the "Ship Aground" which does, and is also well worth a visit. These establishments are now only a fifteen-minute drive from our new home in Wales - roll on things getting back to normal!

We have purchased a wowcher deal but have been unable to use it due to covid 19. However every time i have rung to discuss staying there i have been met with friendly helpful staff who have bent over backwards to try to help. I am now hoping to visit in June and am really looking forward to staying there. It is a very difficult time for them but really pleased with the standard of service so far.
