Had the most amazing fish pie with vegetables, on Wednesday night. Well looked after by the landlords, complements to the chef, really lovely home made food. Looking forward to our next visit!

A group of us went to eat there. We all had different things to eat and all were really very good. It was a cold and frosty evening but the log fire was keeping the place cosy and warm. The enthusiastic staff were excellent and having carpet on the floor gave for much better acoustics than many hard furnished places.
The place is small so you probably will need to book a table. The menu is also not huge but all the better for that as what is on it is therefor properly produced. Strict vegetarians may be challenged to find what they want on the menu.

Mike, Nick, Chris and Jude now have the Volunteer. First Sunday lunch available today. What great food and value for money. Highly recommended.

A new landlady at the volunteer so went to investigate. Friendly welcome and very well kept selection of ales.
The Doom bar was stunning and for only 2.80 per pint the more you drink the more you save. I hope the new landlady can breath new life into this lovely old pub it would be such a shame to lose it.

Second time visiting this pub in 3 years, went on a midweek day very quiet we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. There was a large group of locals playing snooker in another bar. Service was very slow however the food was good & well cooked large meals. The place lacked any atmosphere and finished cooking by 20.00 hrs.
