“THE most memorable weekend!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2011

I booked two nights at Tigh Na Leigh as a surprise for my girlfriend. We were warmly greeted by Chris upon arrival and Bettina showed us to our suite. They are both the most interesting, warm and hospitable hosts you could wish to meet, and made our stay relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. Even Tom and Bunny (the cats) were friendly!

Both our hosts enjoyed telling us about the local sights and they are a font of knowledge for all walks, amenities and leisure pursuits the area has to offer. Bettina urged us to visit the nearby Reekie Linn waterfall and it was spectacular.

Our room was beautifully decorated, clean, spacious and generally 5* standard. The French linen bedsheets were soooo comfy and the bed was MASSIVE! The food that Chris served us was very, very good; locally sourced (sometime from their garden), perfectly cooked and served in the light, airy conservatory which overlooks the back garden, their pond and the church next door. I would strongly urge future visitors to book their evening meals at Tigh Na Leigh as you won't be disappointed.

Overall, a totally enjoyable stay. I would not hesitate in recommending this Guest House (B&B does not do it justice) to anyone wanting a leisurely break 'away from it all'. We usually stay in 4 or 5* accommodation and this is easily on a par with 5* hotels - perhaps more thanks to the welcoming hosts and relaxed atmosphere of Tigh Na Leigh.

Room Tip: Request the menu when you book and make sure you give Chris enough time to prepare your dinner. He o...

Our second time here, the first time we booked one night and stayed three! Cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional quality of the accommodation and the standard of the food cooked by Chris. Everything here is first class certainly the best 'guest house' we have ever stayed in. We were with two friends this time and they were equally impressed not only with the food and establishment, but found Bettina and Chris such great hosts. On leaving Tigh Na Leigh I felt once again as I had felt on our first visit, sorry to be leaving but very happy to have met Bettina and Chris and look forward to returning once again.

Room Tip: They are all best rooms !!!!

My wife and I stayed at this Guest House in August and were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were of a very good standard equal to most 3 or 4* hotels. The en-suite was large, clean and modern. The breakfast was nice and served with a smile. If in this area again we would book this Guest House again and would recommend it to all. Have a look at Chris' DVD collection; it's rather good.

Room Tip: To book a very nice room, simply book this Guest House.

I was looking for a pet-friendly hotel not too far from home and found Tigh Na Leigh on the web search. My Sheltie was immediately welcomed with the offer of a rawhide chew and shown where the dog towels were kept just inside the main door for wet paws on the inevitable Scottish rainy days. Good walks just over the road along the riverside for first thing. Two cats were hilariously in charge and completely dog friendly. The single room was well sized as well as the en suite bathroom and all was kept immaculately clean and tidy. Amazing breakfast and evening meal looking out over an equally immaculate and peaceful garden. Lots of suggestions where to visit and quicker local routes round windy country lanes. Oh - I asked for a small jug of milk in my room. It came in a vacuum flask to keep it fresh throughout the night in case I wanted a coffee again first thing. Really, such seemingly effortless attention to detail struck me as amazing. My visit was so refreshing and I must say Chris and Bettina are worth every one of their five-stars accreditation. PS Too old to use the spa but the shower over the bath was absolutely fine

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back for quiet

The friends we travelled with had stayed before and were pleased to share this experience with us. The welcome from Chris & Betina was second to none and before we had been in residence for one hour, we were made to feel as if this was home. We only stayed two nights but wished it was at least four. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the luxury of a spa bath was very special as we had arrived on motorcycles on a rainy cool day. Chris is an excellent chef and we certainly dined in style having the luxury of being the sole guests on the first evening and one extra person on the second day. The location of this accommodation is good for exploring Scotland and I can't wait to return. There were two beautifully furnished guest lounges, which we didn't get chance to use. Views from the dining area were onto a very beautiful garden. Well done to our hosts, who have got this just right. See you both soon.

Room Tip: All rooms are very comfortable and have spa baths amd most have showers. No complaints.

We booked a last minute weekend and wow what a hidden gem in Alyth, Perthshire. Bettina and Chris are first class hosts. We stayed in a suite (room 3), it was beautifully furnished with a spa bath and everything you could ever want (including champagne and chocolates in the room), We stayed in for dinner on Saturday night and had the most wondeful dinner cooked by Chris. My partner's eyes were out on stalks at the size of the venison chops! Everything is locally sourced and Bettina even mentioned she had picked the mushrooms earlier that day. We can't recommend this place highly enough as one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in. Was sad to leave today....we will be back!

The exterior of this guest house provided no clue to the gem which awaited us. Chris and Bettina offered the warmest welcome and on the chilly and rainy afternoon we arrived, they offered to dry our clothes and shoes while Bettina poured glasses of wine and Chris immediately began to prepare a wonderful dinner for us. There was no detail which had been overlooked by this wonderful couple, who restored this historic building themselves, with an ecclectic and tasteful mix of period and contemporary pieces. Our room had the most enormous four poster bed and was covered with the loveliest linens. The bathroom was equipped with a jacuzzi tub, large enough for two, with bath crystals and a rubber ducky all waiting to dive in. But the biggest surprise was to the rear and side of the house was an oasis of a hidden garden with a pond and waterfall where they grew their own vegetables and herbs. From the homemade orange marmalade to the wild mushroom soup and perfectly grilled salmon, these innkeepers knew just the right formula to spoil their guests silly. We cannot wait to return!
