Booked this as a last minute trip to beat the winter blues. Dealing with Dave was very easy and I must say, his knowledge of the area and advice given, certainly made for a better experience than we might have had otherwise.
Going on the aforementioned advice, we chose to fly to Gibraltar from John Lennon airport in Liverpool. This was an excellent choice and left us with only a 25 minute journey after arrival in Spain.
We were met at the house by Daves Spanish contact, had to wait 10 minutes, and shown the house.
Have to say we were very surprised at the level of comfort and quality and the photos online do not do justice to what is a very large and high quality rental.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and full bathroom on the ground floor, and a large living room and dining area, with three double bedrooms and a further family bathroom on the 1st floor, albeit one of these bedrooms is small but useable. The main bedroom on the first floor also has an ensuite bathroom and its own personal veranda.
The top floor has another double room and a rooftop veranda, ideal for sitting out at night, although in March it was cool at night but I would imagine, excellent in the summer.
On the ground floor there is a patio at the rear of the house, looking onto the hills.
The house is set in fenced of grounds that are immaculately maintained with a choice of two pools, neither of which were heated and none of us were brave enough to attempt a dip at this time of the year.
The house is situated on the Duquesa golf course and is a 10 to 15 minute walk downhill to the lovely marina port. Plenty of bars and restaurants are available here although prices do vary considerably and we would recommend moving around to catch the many happy hours around town.
On the downside:
you will need a car, transport to and from airports is not viable without a car and it helps also for getting shopping and getting to the numerous golf courses nearby.
The walk back up to the house, not difficult but it is uphill (taxis are cheap and plentiful)
Prices in the port can be high, depending on where you choose to drink, shop around.
No wifi or internet connection, had to go to port for this although good excuse to go to the bar
All things considered, had a great long weekend and would thouroughly recommend to anyone considering this area of spain. Will definitely be back
