We took a chance to go here based off the few glowing reviews on here and weren't disappointed!! The tuna was the best I've had, and our friends had some great fried chicken. The chef speaks a tiny bit of English and was friendly, enthusiastically showing us the newspaper article from when he got a huge tuna. The hot sake we had was also one of the best I've ever had! The photo I took was an afterthought, so a lot of the meal is gone, but have posted it anyway so that there is one of their food on here!

Maybe the best dinner we had in Japan. If you love the freshest fish available, presented beautifully, try Ichirin. I was in maguro heaven as I made my way through dinner. Chef was very friendly and speaks a little English. No English menu but friendly staff will help you figure out what to order. Very good value for the quality of the meal.
Highly recommended.

On the recommendation of a lady in the coffee shop we went to Ichirin for dinner. We ordered combination Sashimi which was delicious. For those that do not like raw fish the tempura or chicken Karaage was also delicious. English menu was not available but the staff was very nice explaining the options we had.

When you're in Katsura, home of Japans' largest tuna fish market, go for the sashimi and sushi ! And there's no better place than Ichirin ; obviously popular with locals too. Nice setting, friendly service and the freshest seafood. Highly recommended.

We decided to try this place for lunch and we were spot on.

Set meals ( main course, soup, rice, appetisers) were averaging between 1100y to 1600y depending on what you order - there were fresh tuna fish, fresh mix fish, mixed tempura, fried chicken, and eel set.

Lunch opens at 11.30am and closes about 1.30pm - restaurant gets crowded very fast with only about 20 seats.

Chef speaks English though no English menu.
