It is not often that you get fish this fresh, they were unloading the boat and filiting it as we watched. The restaurant is a walkup in an old bus,you order, and they call your name when it is ready. You can order as a combo or by the piece. this fish is battered just right and you pay by the piece/ $3.00. There is no discount in the combo. Unless you are a fries nut save your four dollars. Drinks of your choice are from a machine. You take your meal to a covered picnic table by the channel and eat. we were sitting with a lovely couple from germany that were on holiday hiking canadian parks.

I've travelled across Canada and tried seafood in just about every place that offers it (especially if it's a fishing area), and not one restaurant or chip truck, can stand up to Herbert's Fish & Chips.

You wont find that horrible greasy, thick, beer battered style of fish... what you do get is fresh fish caught from the great lakes, lightly dredged in a seasoned flour coating and then deep fried.

It's an hour's drive off the main hwy into Killarney but well worth it, not only for the fish and chips but at least for the chance to see a moose or two, black bear and deer while driving there and back!

We've been to Herberts many time's over the years, and always try to include it on our journey.

The fish and chips are divine (great).Their prices are a little steep and Fish portion is small for $3.00 per piece. Fries are average price and size wise. we paid $15.00 for 5 pieces of fish and $4.00 for large fry. $19.00 for 2 to eat. Since most people don't do this trip to often I guess its worth it once in awhile. We had a minor altercation with one of owners about our umbrella at our table being up, she sort of was a bit rude and told us to put it down because she was afraid the wind may blow it away and informed us it would cost $60.00 to replace. Sun was out and a very minor wind was blowing like maybe 2km .Lady Chill out. Thanks for ruining an enjoyable meal experience. I would rate the fries 7 out of 10 and the fish in taste 7 out of 10 and the atmosphere 3 out of 10.
