This was our first visit to this restaurant which has only been open since April. Although it was a warm evening we ate inside in the attractive and tastefully decorated dining room.
There is a 4 course tasting menu but we didn’t feel up to that and chose from the à la carte where the choice is from a relatively limited selection of modern and unusual dishes. Roberta was on hand to offer advice and explanations.
As you would expect from the name there is an extensive wine list focussing mainly on local Marche wines. We chose a Pecorino with good body.
After an amuse-bouche of potato soup, my wife had chick pea humus with gorgonzola and I had sea food panzanella. Both had clearly been made from excellent ingredients, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Delicious home-made bread complemented these dishes.
My wife then had tender medallions of pork, while I had a seafood risotto subtly flavoured with prawn meat. Again the dishes were lovingly presented and accompanied by Roberta’s detailed and enthusiastic descriptions.
After that we only had room for coffee, which was also extraordinarily good.
The food here is of a very high quality prepared and served with great attention to detail, and very different from the more traditional (but also generally excellent) dishes found in the other local restaurants. I hope Fossombrone will welcome and appreciate this new addition to its restaurant scene.
