“Beautiful villa in a picturesque hill top location”
Reviewed August 22, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at the villa as a party of seven in July/August 2016 for 8 days. The villa was simple to find by car and is approximately 15 minutes from the Autostrada. Upon arrival, the villa was even better than the pictures...it is truly stunning with bags of character, wonderful views of the surrounding countryside with top notch facilities including a pool with cabana, jacuzzi, outdoor dining area and BBQ grill. The hosts were very welcoming with plenty of advice as to where to visit, dine and swim. Highly recommended!

“A gentle zephyr kissed the mountain top”
Reviewed September 2, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our first time in Liguria, though no stranger to Italy you do wonder what to expect when you make a reservation for 8 people none of whom knew the area.

We thought we might be in for a treat as when we arrived in the tiny village of Vescina half way up a mountain, we were unable to park in the public square as it was the festival of Saint Lorenzo and the village was having a weekend long party with food music and dancing. Totally brilliant immersion into Italian culture and life and a great start to a perfectly wonderful holiday with family and friends.

The villa is fantastic, it is incredibly well appointed with a lovely cool deep pool, whirlpool spa, gym and sauna but it also maintains its 17th century rustic charm too. It sits on the arm of a promontory where a gentle zephyr kissed the mountain top... OK, to be honest on one day it was more of a ravening storm, but it blew through and returned to an azure blue sky with such clear views you can see in all directions. The location is very very beautiful and the Church bells are a charming addition. This isn't the 'posh' part of the Riviera which makes it perfectly wonderful because though Recco, the nearest town, is a seaside resort with a small Lido its very much a working town too and so there is fresh veg, fish, meat, wine, cheese and olive oil in abundance! and within 10 mins either side of Recco you do have the parts of the Italian Riviera where you will find £10m yachts harboured and beautiful people sipping Aperol Spritz and of course amazing restaurants! ( Book them in August to avoid disappointment.)

The owners of this luxury villa live close by. Indeed such is the local esteem within which the 'family' has been held in the past, the 'passo' and small piazza is named after them. They are a thoroughly delightful family and we were very honoured to be asked to dine with them. The highlight of our stay in Vescina in point of fact.

The city of Genoa is very near. The historical centre is a UNESCO world heritage site and there is an amazing and very large aquarium. Portofino is best visited by water taxi from Santa Margherita-Ligure but make sure to visit Camogli adjacent to Recco and the also the Gesu Abissi, the famous underwater sculpture of Christ at the Abbey at Capodumonte. Sestri Levante is also a must and its worth striking out for the Cinque Terre and Portovenere where Lord Byron nearly drowned himself, but I would give La Spezia a miss personally.

Now! you do need a car for this trip and if your a timid driver then Italy might not be for you! but if you brave the highway and autoststrada and just think like an Italian you will breeze through it. Just remember to take out full insurance on a hire car its worth every Euro! a sat nav is also a must.

We have spent a whole month in this Villa, with family coming and going all the time. The proximity to airports and transport is exceptional and its a great intro into Italian life and culture. I cannot recommend this location more highly.

“Nice and relaxing”

We loved the house! It is a typical "rustico" very nicely restructured with all the amenities one could ask for. The location is also very romantic... 10 minutes drive from Recco up a curvy mountain road with a view of the valley on both sides. It is not possible to bring the car to the property but there is a big parking space about 2 minutes walk away and it felt like a safe place to leave your car. One big plus point is the restaurant placed by the parking space. The very friendly owners can prepare upon request a dinner for approx EURO 10 per person of home made fresh pasta. We made use of this a couple of times and were very happy. Once she made us tagliatelle with rabbit-ragu - it was absolutely delicious!! The owners of the property were also very friendly and were able to give us some good advise. The Liguria is a beautiful romantic area with lots of little towns to visit which are all very near and easy to reach by car - but I do think a car is necessary for a nice stay here.
