We booked this hotel as an early anniversary treat.
I had booked a deluxe room but emailed and asked if there was availability for a room with a sea view. Got a quick reply advising on the room types that were available with sea view which were more expensive, got a quote and decided to upgrade.
We arrived mid afternoon, 3 ladies at reception, first impression was that they were not very friendly and welcoming. Got booked in and went to make payment and noticed additional charge of £100 had been added, was advised this was part of t & c’s on their site, and reason was in case of damages or if we wanted to charge anything to our room from bar/restaurant. I was a bit taken aback by this but was reassured if no damages or charges it would be fully refunded. So I made the payment. Was shown to our room, we were led to room 122, which was the Bridal Suite. On entering the room we had been left a small bowl of 6 chocolates and a printed card wishing us a happy Anniversary which was a nice touch.
Room on initial arrival is lovely, the view from the balcony is stunning. We unpacked and as we were putting our clothes away saw several Kirby grips on the floor and found a further stash on the suitcase stand and more again next to the safe.
Carpet had bits of sequins on it and had not been hoovered properly. Went to use the toilet and on lifting the lid found it had not been cleaned properly as there was excrement waste stuck to the bowl and further black marks further down. I went to clean it using the toilet brush provided and this was dirty and the unit it sat in had not been cleaned in a long time. I was going to complain at reception but was reluctant to do so as I didn’t want them to think I was looking for a discount or reduction, plus the staff did not seem particularly friendly.
There were ring marks on the table which hadn’t been cleaned properly. I used a glass on our first night rinsed it and put it back into the bathroom , it was not cleaned or replaced the following day.
The duvet cover on the bed had a hole in it which really shouldn’t have been put on the bed.
Breakfast is good, but on our last day the service wasn’t great. The lady who was on duty , brought us toast before taking our order and this turned out to be for the table behind us, when she realised that she had accidentally given it to the wrong table she took it back and proceeded to ask the people there if they were ready to order, they advised they had already ordered. We at this point had some fruit and orange juice, then the waitress brought us toast and took our order. We finished out fruit and juice and sat for some time waiting for our plates to be cleared, after waiting about 10 minutes I approached the waitress who was behind the bar and asked if I could have a pot of tea and our cooked breakfast. She proceeded to tell me that our breakfast was ready and under the hot plate as we were still eating our cereal. I replied that we hadn’t had cereal and had been finished for some time. She profusely apologised and brought out the cooked food. I asked for some fresh toast as the original ones had gone cold. Got a pot of tea brought out as well as fresh toast. Again apology was given which was appreciated.
We checked out a day early because in all honesty it fell short of our expectations.
Attention to detail has to be improved when cleaning the rooms, it would be nice to have in the bridal suite dressing gowns and disposable slippers just for that added touch of luxury. There were no extra pillows or blankets/throws available which you would normally get in a hotel room.
The sea view rooms are next right to a busy road which might be an issue for some people.
Overall nice hotel, a wee bit dated in decor in the rooms and dining area. Definitely could do better when it comes to attention to detail in cleanliness.
We left a day early and spoke to the lady at the reception desk about our experience. Was given an apology but never offered any reduction or refund which I thought should have been given based on our feedback. Was only offered an email address of a manager which I have taken and will follow up on.
Nice hotel if you don’t have high expectations.

The hotel is not bad, the staff friendly, however we had room 127 right next to the 'Function room' Which as we found out had a wedding on. We had driven up from London so were exhausted. All you want to do is sleep soundly. However this was not going to happen. When we complained that our room was right next to the Function room and the music was thumping through the walls, we were told there was no other rooms available. They would of put us in one of the (ugly) caravans if they had one! I told them we were not sleeping in a caravan when we had booked into a hotel. We asked if we could have a refund so we could move hotel. They refused, because we had booked through Expedia, but said there was no function on the next night so it would be quiet tomorrow! We asked to see the manager which came down and repeated word for word what the receptionist had said. Then because of there being a function on the restaurant only had set menu on at £25 per head. We then drove into town feeling exasperated at the whole thing and found a lovely restaurant with fantastic food. The hotel, cleanliness and breakfast is not bad. But DONT GO WHEN THERE IS A FUNCTION ON, unless your willing to stay awake till 1am. All facilities are shared with people in the caravans.

Room Tip: Not near the function room. Contact the hotel prior to visit. Ask for Bay views.

Popped in early around lunch time (24/08/18) to see if we could use the restaurant only to be met
by a very friendly member or the reception staff asking if we would like her to check if our room was ready.
As it was ready early the same girl checked us in and showed us to our room pointing out the pool and restaurant on the way, Nice touch.
Credit to the management, We found all the staff to be polite and friendly. In the restaurant we met a waiter called Andrew who kindly took the time to tell us some nice places and a few hidden gems to visit that only the locals would know about.

Very well equipped room with an excellent sea view.

We would highly recommend this hotel due to the Staff,Facilities and good location.

Please thank your staff for making our weekend special and let them know they do make a big difference to the customers experience.

Thank you
Billy & Laura

Room Tip: sea view, great to wake up to.

My wife and I ate here early evening last week. The setting is fantastic with great views from the dining room out over the Firth of Forth. We both had two courses. The food was very nice, reasonably priced and served by a friendly waitress. Overall a good experience.
