New up - and - coming kayak outfitters try harder & give great value for money, just like new up-and-coming restaurants. Did not cancel our trip despite a last - minute switch by another party which made the group size very small, and worked hard all the way through to make it a fun experience anyway. Jesse did a real nice job in scaling the itinerary according to how skilled and ambitious the paddlers were, instead of following a rigid script for the tour. Discovery Islands area is gorgeous, with good camp sites and landing zones, and is much less crowded than Desolation Sound in high season. Had numerous, very close- up wildlife sightings, including seals, porpoises, river otters, raccoons, eagles, ravens, blue herons, etc. Great time.
