I´ve been there for entire 7 nights and this place is magic! Best food I´ve had in Colombia, the kitchen is run by a Dutch chef. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. There is a "mirador" on the terrace and many hamocks to chill out. It´s a few steps away from the center and beach(5-10min), but this extra way is definitly worth walkin! by the way Taganga is magic. Don´t waste your time in Santa Marta, go there just for shopping.

I loved it since i walked in. My wife and I had beautiful moments in this lovelly hostel with the hammocks, the incredible food in the hostel's restaurant and all the staff. We even went out to dance with the staff after midnight! They were so kind!!!!
The rooms are a little bit old (at least the old part of the hostel, cuz they have a new one). The bathrooms are not so nice but anyways we both really think it is more than fine. Loved the TV room, big and chill.
Totally sure we'll come back!
DONT MISS "Los Baguettes de Maria" when you are in Taganga. Ask the staff if you want to go, SO GOOOOD!

We stay 3 days on end May 2011; reserve was easy and fast; very good communication by email, great place!! Studios are convenient, big, clean and hammock do all the difference..
Breakfast are very cheap and great to spend the day without think about stop to take lunch; place is very quiet and at the end of a uphill street.
Highly recommendable!!!! The place was full or foreigners people, mostly from europe and USA.

Room Tip: Apart studio number 18 is the best place,

Taganga was our 2nd stop of a 10-day visit to the Caribbean coast of Colombia - Casa de Felipe was recommended by UK travelers and we were happy to stay there. Taganga is touted as a fishermen's village but it is really a rest stop for weary back packers, folks looking to cruise beach scene a la Cancun. Casa de Felipe provided a chill atmosphere and a welcome escape from the main drag; rooms clean and affordable - provided mosquito nets and strong ceiling fans (bath towels kinda scrappy); breakfast delicious; and dinner A MUST! Reception spoke English; internet and booze affordable too.

I tryed to make a reservation for la casa de felipe -throught the internet. It didn´t work, i was told to come early in the morning to see if there was space. When i arrived in the afternoon (i had to travel) they were full. I asked if i could make a reservation for when i got back from tayrona, the same answer: come by the hostal early in the morning. Staying in la casa de felipe is by chance, apperently you can´t book ahead. It looked like a nice hostal, and the restaurnat was good. They arranged another hostal for me, what was nice but it was quite rundown (moramar hostal). Try la tortuga when it´s full or divenga.
