Thank you for your post. However I am sorry that your holidays has been tarnished by rain, but unfortunately on tropical islands sometimes the weather is unpredictable. But now the sun is back !
I look forward to greeting you in our Resort again in the future for you to catch-up with sunbathing and golf.
This is probably the nicest resort you will stay at (save maybe for the Maldives in terms of charm). We had a "basic" garden room but this word does not apply at the 4seasons - you will walk in and go wow. The room was large and looked out over the plunge pool at what is effectively a private garden. Villas either side of ours were occupied but you wouldn't know - lots of privacy and even though villas are semi-detached, there is 100% sound insulation. We have a toddler, just be careful as there are lots of hard edges and the plunge pool is not fenced-off...
Nothing but good things to say - simply the best trained staff of any hotel I have stayed at. From the people that sweep the sea weed from the beach, to the front desk manager - all are polite, well trained and genuinely seem to want to make your stay the best it can be.
Here is the niggle. The food is hit and miss. We had a seafood platter which was on "supplement" (hotel speak for £160(!) on top of your half board) - the best sea food we have tasted. But then steamed fish on special was so overdone you could have used it instead of a squash ball. This happened a few times but not quite to this same extent. Moules in the French restaurant excellent, mahi-mahi tasteless. Starter in the Italian great, then main of roast pork very tough. Am amuse bouche, is a small pallet cleanser - not a deep fried mozzarella ball or garlic tomato paste. In summary, the food needs a little work in places - focus on doing fewer things better.
The breakfast...get the French Toast, you will put on weight but not regret it for a second. Room service is decent - you cannot go wrong with the outrageously large burger or pizza.
Location/Things to Do
Positives and negatives here. The beach is lovely and sheltered. The East Coast seemed to have escaped much of the rain that came up from the North and sat over the higher ground. Negative - it's 1 to 1.5 hours to Port Louis including the dolphin trip that everyone says you should do (I wasn't sold).
Isle aux Cerfs is 10 mins by free hotel boat transfer and is worth a visit for a cheap lunch (a welcome relief!). From there you can rent your own speedboat for a few hours for circa £160 and visit waterfalls, snorkelling etc. DO IT. Domaine d'Etoiles is a 20 min taxi and was our favourite day - what an amazing place. Take a (top-end) quad bike with the guide for almost 2 hours around the nature park and admire the spectacular views for circa £75). We took a hotel speedboat snorkelling (not the free one) which is a very nice trip but at £350...go to Isle aux Cerfs and get your own. There are other tours that can be arranged but we didn't fancy spending 2-3 hours of the day in a car with our toddler.
Going with a Toddler
Wow, four Seasons get this right!! On arrival the room has a wonderfully made-up cot, a steriliser and bottle warmer, together with some baby products. The baby sitting service pays a visit giving a free toy. The babysitting/"hobbit club" was really excellent and enabled us to have a mixture of a family holiday and adults-only.
Weather - As an aside, you go in early February and it will RAIN but the hotel will be empty. We were lucky and of 11 days had only 2 as "go to the bar" days but it rained most days at some point.
Spa - Massages life changing but wife reports that the manicure/pedicure was quite poor and when you factor in the £150 cost, actually quite offensive. The polish lasted 24 hours and the whole experience was apparently quite lack lustre. Save your money.
Cost - It's the Four Seasons, it's expensive. Deduct the boat trip and spa and you are looking at £2,000 of extras to a half board plan for an 11 day trip. This is with 1 or 2 glasses of wine with dinner and food with soft drinks at lunch (i.e. not over the top but not skimping). Apart from the manicure, it never felt unreasonable, just don't kid yourself that 1/2 board means you can live off breakfast. On the plus side, the 1/2 board is very generous with food - you really can order as much of whatever you like (damned French Toast)! Under 5s go for free - so their food and drink is included (this is great).
The location of the hotel is amazing, you feel like you are inside of a botanical garden. The rooms are perfect for families. The hotel is really quite, you can really get in the mood of relaxation. The food is excellent!

We would like to thank and congratulate you for the outstanding service we received during our stay from the beginning to the end. The level of attention and care, even for minor details, made our 10 years marriage/honeymoon celebration the very best experience we ever received and enjoyed in a hotel resort. I travelled a lot in my life so far and have been in many, many places / hotel resorts, may it be for business or private, so I can really compare! A very special and big thank you to Olga and her team for all the arrangement and all your attentive staff in general. We conclude that this can be possible only by having as well an outstanding management team in place. Really fantastic! Warm regards from Switzerland, Moritz & Zulfiya Wittwer

The villas are enormous with beautiful views to the gardens, the sea or the lagoon depending on the category. All villas have their own pool and outdoor shower.
