My first impression of Zeerover was WOW!. My last impression of Zeerover was WOW!.
We were told that this was a great place to get the local flavor of Aruba and we were not dissappointed.
Finding the place is not too difficult. As you are driving to San Nicolas (from Oranjestead), you will enter the town of Savaneta. Hang a right at the first or second street, follow it to the sea and look for a bunch of parked cars on the right side. The sign can be hard to see.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Don't go in and sit at a table to be served. You will be there a long time.
As you approach the place, you will see people in line for a window. You will place your order at the first window. The menu is in both English and Spanish and is posted on the wall by the window. Once she weighs the amount of fish and/or shrimp you purchase, you will be pay and be given a number. Then you can go to the next window to order and pay for your drink. I recommend 'Chill' Beer which is a light Balashi (the local Beer). Next, you simply take a seat and enjoy the view and activities. Soon your food will arrive where you can enjoy the local goodness.
Zee Rovers is a cash only business. They readily accept US Dollars (as do all places in Aruba). The prices make this place very affordable.
We went on a Sunday afternoon where many of the local residents were just getting out of church and were enjoying their Sunday Dinner. On this particular day, I did not see any Americans at the restaraunt. The Arubian people are very friendly and gracious.
I can't wait to go back.
